Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton has teased a new version of his legendary Tokyo Drift-style video, which he first dropped in 2022.
The British driver took to the streets of Tokyo in 2022 in a Nissan Skyline R34 GTR. After finding an empty car park, Hamilton did what any petrolhead would struggle to resist and pulled off some donuts before the camera cut to smoke billowing out of the gearbox. Seemingly ignoring the impending failure, the F1 driver continued to tear up the streets while explaining to the passenger, “Something is not right with this car man.”

The passenger gives Hamilton a fist pump before he putt the car into a spin of donuts once again while shouting, “That was f****** sick!”
The former Mercedes driver continued the tradition in 2024. He took another Nissan Skyline R34 GTR out on the prowl during the Japanese Grand Prix weekend. The video starts beneath the Tokyo Tower before Hamilton playfully takes the R34 around the Shuto Expressway and screeches around another empty car park with countless donuts under the street lights.
Although the rental company from 2022 was not best pleased with the video at the time, the British driver has now teased a return of the much-loved series.

He shared a post with screenshots of the two previous videos with the stopwatch emoji, and it’s safe to say fans are barely holding it together. One fan wrote, “OMG I look forward to this every year now!”
Others were surprised that Ferrari was happy to allow Hamilton to continue with his tradition. “I’m surprised Ferrari are allowing him to do cool s**t like this. Fair play.”
“I’m pretty sure he has something in his contact that explicitly allows him to do cool s**t like that. Same when he was at Mercedes and he could go skydiving and stuff,” another fan responded. This isn’t confirmed.
Hamilton will look to improve on his Chinese Grand Prix outing on the famous Suzuka Circuit, which saw both him and team-mate Charles Leclerc disqualified, lose their double points finish in fifth and sixth respectively.
