Lauryn Hill and Wu-Tang Clan are among the artists nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2026, joining a wide-ranging ballot that reflects multiple generations and genres of music.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation announced 17 nominees this year, including Mariah Carey, Phil Collins, Oasis, Shakira, New Edition, Luther Vandross, and Cyndi Lauper, alongside Hill and the Wu-Tang Clan.
According to the organization, the ballot highlights artists whose work has helped shape modern music and youth culture.
“This diverse list of talented nominees recognizes the ever-evolving faces and sounds of Rock & Roll and its continued impact on youth culture,” said chairman John Sykes in a statement.
Hill and Wu-Tang Clan are both appearing on the ballot for the first time, marking a major milestone for two of hip-hop’s most influential acts. Hill made history with her groundbreaking solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, which earned multiple Grammy Awards and helped redefine the sound of hip-hop and R&B in the late 1990s. Meanwhile, Wu-Tang Clan became one of rap’s most iconic collectives, known for their gritty production, lyrical innovation, and lasting influence on hip-hop culture.
Artists become eligible for Rock Hall nomination 25 years after releasing their first commercial recording. Nominees are evaluated based on their cultural impact, influence on other musicians, and overall body of work.
More than 1,200 voters, including artists, historians, and music industry professionals, will now weigh in to determine which nominees will officially be inducted.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2026 is expected to be announced in April, with the induction ceremony scheduled to take place later this fall.
