This 2027 concept trailer reimagines The Road to El Dorado as a sweeping live action adventure with Jake Gyllenhaal stepping into the role of Tulio, the fast-talking schemer who always has an angle, and Chris Hemsworth bringing the reckless charm and wide-eyed wonder of Miguel, the dreamer who plays his mandolin while his partner counts coins.
Megan Fox rounds out the trio as Chel, the sharp-witted woman inside the golden city who sees through their god disguise in seconds and strikes a deal that changes everything. Every frame of this concept was designed to feel like a heist film colliding with an epic jungle adventure, balancing buddy comedy energy with genuine emotional stakes.
I personally created every storyboard and visual element in this “What If” concept trailer from scratch, building out the full journey from a rigged dice game in a dusty Spanish tavern to the thunderous collapse of the volcanic passage that seals El Dorado from the world forever.
This trailer captures the brotherhood between two flawed men who lie for a living but discover something worth protecting when a peaceful civilization faces destruction at the hands of Cortés and his advancing army.
The golden city reveal, the jungle chases, the fracture between best friends, and the final sacrifice where they choose people over treasure were all crafted to honor the spirit of the original animated classic while pushing it into a grounded, visually cinematic experience that fans have imagined for years.
