Gavin Adcock Ready To Show Beyoncé Fans What “Real Country Music” Is With New Song “Sunset”

Warner Music Nashville

With Gavin Adcock fashioning his career in country music, it appeared the singer didn’t take Beyoncé entering the genre too kindly. Although Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter won a Grammy for Album of the Year, Adcock didn’t believe it should be considered country music.

While the singer shared his thoughts on stage, he received a great deal of backlash from fans of Beyoncé. Given that some artists might walk back on their statement after getting so much backlash, Adcock decided to push forward, hoping to show people what “real country music sounds like” with new song “Sunset.”

Having been pretty active on social media over the last few weeks, Adcock shared a video of himself in bed on Instagram. The singer revealed he had a dream that supposedly inspired him. “Well, I was dreaming last night. I was thinking about all the people that don’t know what real country music sounds like so I’m going to drop y’all a new one on Friday.”

Gavin Adcock Views ‘Cowboy Carter’ As Anything But Country Music

The whole situation between Adcock started when the country singer revealed his album Own Worst Enemy was fourth on Apple’s Country Music Albums chart. As many might have guessed, it sat behind Cowboy Carter. Showing that he might really be his own worst enemy, Adcock told the crowd at his concert, “There’s only three people ahead of me on the Apple Country Music charts, and one of them is Beyoncé. You can tell her we are coming for her f***ing ass.”

If that wasn’t clear enough, he added, “That s**t ain’t country music, and it ain’t ever been country music.”

Expand on his comments about Beyoncé and showing he didn’t hate the singer personal, Adcock revealed in another video, “When I was a little kid, my mama was blasting some Beyoncé in the car. I’ve heard a ton of Beyoncé songs, and I actually remember her Super Bowl halftime show being pretty kick ass back in the day. But I really don’t believe that her album should be labeled as country music. It doesn’t sound country.”

With Adcock believing that country singers shouldn’t have to watch Beyoncé dominate the charts just because she was Beyoncé, on Friday, he will supposedly show fans what “real country music sounds like.”
