Reigniting his feud with Jeff Bezos

If we know anything about Elon Musk, it’s that the world’s richest man isn’t afraid of stirring up a bit of beef online. That has become ever more present since he took over ownership of Twitter and renamed it X in October 2022.
Many have been critical of Elon Musk’s ownership of X, with many big names abandoning the platform in favor of other social media outlets. Still, his ramblings and rantings continue to be a cause of amusement to many, and who could forget his spectacular outburst where he claimed President Donald Trump was named in the redacted Epstein Files?
Now, it looks like Mr. Musk has been sitting smug, chuckling to himself as some of his biggest rivals have gone dark in a major app outage. Downdetector reported an unprecedented spike in app issues, with everything from Reddit to Snapchat going under. This was eventually traced back to an issue with Amazon Web Services, which, as well as bringing in the majority of the tech giants’ profits, is also the biggest cloud-based service in the world.

While AWS claims the unknown issue has been resolved, many are still reporting problems with their favorite apps. This hasn’t gone unnoticed by Musk, who took to X to deliver a brutal two-word swipe at Amazon.
Considering Musk has had some pretty public feuds with Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, he could be about to reignite another battle of the billionaires. AWS confirmed that issues are affecting both the Amazon DynamoDB and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, which allow companies to rent storage and computers to run services, but with half of the internet down, Elon Musk couldn’t help but gloat.
Posting on X, the tech mogul wrote a simple, “X works.”
He then retweeted a gif that had the caption “Everyone running to X” and included a group of people jostling down an escalator.
Many chuckled along with Musk, although let’s remember that X is regularly known for going down. In March 2025, Musk himself called out a ‘massive cyberattack’ on X and pointed the finger of blame at Ukraine. Elsewhere, there have been repeated threats against all businesses and sites that Musk touches. This largely came in the aftermath of his position as head of the Department of Government Efficiency.
Responding to Musk’s views on the latest drama, one person wrote: “Sounds like a good name for a new app – X works.”
Another added: “As AWS choked and apps across the web faceplanted, one platform kept breathing: 𝕏. 𝕏 stayed online while giants like Snapchat, Roblox, and Canva collapsed. No AWS dependency, no excuses – just uptime, while the rest of the internet played dead. Say what you want about Elon, but when the cloud caught fire, 𝕏 didn’t blink.”
Others were less celebratory, as some said, “We don’t care, this app is a mess,” and, “X is now more a censorship platform than Facebook is, way to waste billions @elonmusk.”
