Mourning Country Singer Performed At CMA Fest A Week After Her Husband's Death

A week after her husband’s death, country singer Lorrie Morgan, 65, performed three shows, including at the Grand Ole Opry and CMA Fest. Despite her mourning, she showed up around Tennessee and sang.

Lorrie Morgan lost her husband of fifteen years, Randy White, on June 1. He was 72 years old, and passed a year after being diagnosed with mouth cancer. He was Morgan’s sixth husband.

June 6, however, marked Morgan’s first performance of three, less than a week after his passing. Having to perform so soon after losing someone so important must have been extremely difficult. Thankfully, however, she had her son, Jesse Keith Whitley, by her side for her first performance.

I am sure the support meant a lot to her.

Lorrie Morgan’s Very Busy Weekend

Per PEOPLE, Morgan performed at three separate locations in only two days. That takes strength and dedication regardless. So to pull this string of shows off while in mourning says a lot about the singer.

First up was her show at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg, Ky, on Friday, June 6. Her son was the opening act for her show, and he killed it.

The very next day, Morgan had a packed schedule. She first attended CMA Fest. After that, she had to rush to the Grand Ole Opry for her final show. Hitting both CMA Fest and the Opry in one day is an extraordinary feat.

Morgan posted a video of her Opry set to her Facebook. “Today CMA Fest Nashville,Tn . Me and The Good Boy Band at the Grand Ole Opry!!!! New single , Me and Tequila!!!!!” she exclaimed in the caption.

She did perform songs from her 2024 album, Dead Girl Walking.

Every step of the way, her fans were incredibly supportive. They took to the comments to shower the singer in love and support.

“You look and sound beautiful, take care of you!! Music is medicine for the soul, love you Lorrie,” sweetly wrote one.

“Love your new song!!! I hope you’re doing ok. Sending you lots of hugs and love,” another supported.

“Glad to see you back out there. Your family is in our prayers. Miss you guys,” one more added.

Music is indeed medicine, so maybe these three shows were therapeutic for her.
