Tiger Woods’ legendary 16-year-old son, Charlie, has achieved his first career title by winning the tournament of the United States Golf Association.
Charlie Woods is currently ranked 606th in the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Rolex Junior Golf Rankings, making him the second-lowest-ranked player in the 72-man field at the Team Taylormade Invitational Title at Streamsong Black, Florida. But Tiger Woods’ son surprised everyone by shooting 70-65-66 for a 15-under-par finish, ahead of America’s number one junior golfer Miles Russell (-9).
Charlie Woods’ previous best finish in an AJGA event was a tie for 25th (-6) at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley. Last year, Charlie Woods qualified but failed to qualify for the U.S. Junior Amateur, an event his father Tiger Woods has won for three consecutive years. Tiger Woods also won eight AJGA events from 1991 to 1993.
The first title, with the best result in Charlie Woods’ amateur golf career, shows a big step forward for the son of the legendary golfer. Starting June 15, high school sophomore Charlie Woods can approach University coaches under the NCAA Division I recruiting guidelines for golf.
Of course, Charlie Woods has a big advantage over other golfers when he is coached by his legendary father. Since 2020, Woods and his father have competed together in the PGA Tour’s Family Couples event and the PNC Championship. The father-son duo have finished runner-up twice in 2021 and 2024. Charlie Woods also had his first hole-in-one at the 2024 event, with his sister Sam caddie.
