Viktor Hovland snapped his winless drought on Sunday, capturing the Valspar Championship. But his time in the spotlight was short lived as Tiger Woods dropped a bombshell announcement.

Woods confirmed suspicions that he is dating Vanessa Trump, Don Jr.’s ex-wife. But it was not the fact they are dating that was caught everyone’s attention. After all, there were already rumors surfacing of Woods and Trump’s relationship.

But how Tiger went about it, and more specifically, the caption he included in his post on X, formerly Twitter, is what is being mocked.

“Love is in the air and life is better with you by my side! We look forward to our journey through life together,” Woods wrote.

“At this time we would appreciate privacy for all those close to our hearts.”

Woods is arguably the most famous golfer of all-time. He is certainly one of the most recognizable faces in all of sports. He has 6.4 million followers on X, and another 3.5 million on Instagram.

Yet, he asked for privacy after publicly announcing he is dating President Trump’s ex-daughter-in-law?

That left him wide open to mockery.

“Announce relationship to 6.4 million followers…ask for privacy. Sure buddy,” one user commented.

Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy chimed in, “Tiger asking for privacy for dating Don Jr. ex wife is an all time ridiculous request.”

Some fans even included visual aides in their clowning.

“Tiger posting pics, saying “love is in the air” and then asking his 7 million followers for privacy made me legit LOL,” Monday Q Info posted.

Another user commented: “So let me get this right. Tiger Woods asked for privacy but yet announced his relationship with the ex-wife of another douchebag. This is absolutely comical.”

User Richard Todd provided a hilarious metaphor.

“Tiger Woods posts his new relationship with Vanessa Trump on instagram including Pix of them embracing saying it’s beginning of their love story then incredulously asks for privacy huh? Like running nude on beach saying please don’t look at me.”

Even PGA Tour pro Adam Hadwin’s wife had some fun. She posted an image of her and her husband celebrating their anniversary, and captioned it with the same language as Woods.

Woods and Trump were unlikely to get much privacy to begin with. But asking for it while confirming the relationship for millions to see screams of wanting attention.

Meanwhile, Woods is still rehabbing from the Achilles injury he suffered recently. The golf world was already taken aback at the news, as they were hoping to see the Big Cat in action at the Masters.
