Did a country music legend just quietly retire? Here’s what to know

What has been up with Faith Hill?

Remember her?

Of course you do if you are a country music fan, but those memories are all listeners have of the singer in recent years. She hasn’t just stepped away from the spotlight; she has just about disappeared from the public eye altogether.

And one prominent country music website thinks that fans might have seen the last of Hill and new music.

In fact, Taste of Country’s Sterling Whitaker just wrote that he believes that Hill “quietly” retired in 2024.

You can read more about why he believes that might be here, but a big part of his opinion appears to be based on the fact that Hill left social media in 2024 and has not returned.

Parade Magazine tackled that aspect of Hill’s life in 2025, noting that she mysteriously vanished from social media the previous year.

Hill, 58, is married to Tim McGraw, and she has been spotted from time to time by his side during events. McGraw has had a rough go of it health-wise over the past couple of years, with multiple back and knee surgeries.

There were some reports that Hill had been by his side taking care of him as he recoveredso it is possible she has simply had her hands full outside of the spotlight.

If Hill is, in fact, done with performing and new music, she finishes up with a remarkable resume.

She scored three No.1 hits off her first two albums — 1993’s “Take Me as I Am” and 1995’s “It Matters to Me” — on the Billboard country charts. She has sold more than 50 million albums according to reports, and has won five Grammy Awards, 15 Academy of Country Music Awards and six American Music Awards.

She has released eight albums with the last — “The Rest of Our Life” with McGraw — coming in 2017.
