Not only “avoiding” the Beckham family, Brooklyn – Nicola couple also have hidden tension with their best friend – Selena Gomez

Once so close that they got matching tattoos, Selana Gomez and Nicola Peltz’s friendship has now broken down.

Having been inseparable friends for many years, Selena Gomez’s absence from Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham’s vow renewal ceremony surprised everyone. Recently, The Sun  revealed the reason for the “crack” in their friendship, along with the “selfish, childish” behavior of the eldest daughter-in-law of the Beckham family that made the Hollywood singer angry.

Close friend Selena Gomez was absent from the ceremony.

Nicola and Selena were so close that they joked that they were a “trio” with Brooklyn. However, at the lavish second wedding on August 2, not only was the Beckham family absent, but Selena also did not appear. More notably, on social media, the singer did not send any congratulations or express any concern for the young couple. On the contrary, she enthusiastically posted about attending the wedding of rapper Lil Dicky and his boyfriend Benny Blanco.

“They’ve been arguing and drifting apart for months – not even speaking now. Selena has been disappointed in Nicola and Brooklyn for a long time. Nicola constantly seeks attention, even at dinners together, always choosing a seat where the cameras can’t see her and being uncomfortable if no one is paying attention to her. Selena doesn’t care about that kind of fame, but she hates acting like a spoiled brat,” a source close to the couple revealed.

Selena’s absence was even more noticeable when several mutual friends, including Dominic West and former assistant Theresa Mingus, showed up at the ceremony. This was in stark contrast to the close image they had before: from matching angel tattoos on their arms, to frequent appearances at events together, Selena was even one of the few people who knew Brooklyn before he dated Nicola.

Signs of a “crack” were evident when Selena stopped appearing on Nicola’s Instagram since March 2024, while Nicola last appeared on Selena’s personal page at the end of December 2023. Since then, the two have had almost no interaction, except for Nicola liking Selena and Benny’s engagement announcement.

A source from The Sun said the contrast in lifestyle was a reason: “Selena and Benny are very simple, like simplicity. Meanwhile, Nicola and Brooklyn are becoming more and more like divas, always wanting to be right. Selena is tired so she decided to keep her distance.”

The two couples had previously hung out together many times, and Nicola even celebrated Benny’s birthday in March 2024. But according to friends, the final straw was when Nicola made unpleasant comments about Selena to a group of mutual friends. Brooklyn did not intervene, further straining the relationship.

“Their circle of friends is shrinking. Some people have turned away because they’ve noticed Nicola’s behaviour, while Brooklyn hasn’t changed at all,” the source added.

Despite Selena’s repeated attempts to salvage the friendship, “the trust and connection are gone.” As one insider confirmed, “The trio no longer exists.”
