The world No.1 joined an exclusive club in doing so, as only Tiger Woods has managed the same achievement.

Scheffler, 28, spoke to CBS’s Amanda Balionis after the victory and made sure he would not get emotional.

The reporter asked him about the support he received from his wife, Meredith.

And the golfer was able to lightheartedly push back.

He said: “You’re really trying to make me emotional now. I mean, my wife is my biggest supporter.

“She’s my best friend, and this is our life out here on the road.

“It’s been a lot of fun and I’ve had some special memories at this tournament.

“Yeah, definitely couldn’t do it without her.”

Balionis compared Scheffler’s relationship to that of Jack and Barbara Nicklaus.

She said: “Watching you and Meredith and Bennett, it makes me think.

“We’ve been talking about Barbara Nicklaus all week this week and how she made so much of Jack’s career possible with her support.

“Talk about what this balance looks like and the support Meredith provides that allows you to be the best father and husband you can be while also being the number one player in the world.”

Scheffler suffered a rare double-bogey in the second round but was able to bounce back.

He was able to catch up and overtake challenger Ben Griffen with a four-stroke win.

Balinois also had to issue an apology to Scheffler’s one-year-old son Bennett after he had an accident on the course.

Scheffler has also been hailed by President Donald Trump as one of the two best golfers in the world.
