Lewis Hamilton is back. The seven-time world champion has once again silenced critics after taking an impressive Sprint victory for Ferrari at the Chinese GP, a first in the Briton’s career. Hamilton had been in a difficult place after a disappointing season-opener in Melbourne last weekend. Now, the 40-year-old has reassured the Tifosi that everything is right on-track.
The seven-time world champion was under immense pressure ahead of the Shanghai weekend. Critics had begun questioning whether Lewis Hamilton still had what it takes to win in Formula 1. However, the British driver proved his worth yet again when he clinched pole position for the Sprint on Friday, before a dominant victory on Saturday morning.
After the race, Lewis Hamilton insisted that he was not feeling the pressure. He pointed out that he was aware that the Tifosi had full faith in him to win with the Scuderia, a team which is almost like a religion to millions around the world. The seven-time world champion reminded fans that Rome wasn’t built in a day, signaling that there was a lot more to come in the coming weeks.
I don’t feel the pressure. I know the tifosi, the fans, I know the team wants to win and I know it means everything to them… But I said the other day, Rome wasn’t built in one day, one step at a time.

Additionally, the British driver brought up his famous phrase from 2021, saying that its a ‘marathon, not a sprint.’ Hamilton thus hinted that he and Ferrari must think of the long-term prospects before making any impulsive decisions. As such, the 40-year-old asserted that he was willing to take his time.
It’s a long long way. It’s a marathon not a sprint. We just gotta take our time.

Lewis Hamilton lost for words after Sprint win
The Sprint triumph marks a special moment in Lewis Hamilton’s career. This is the first victory for the seven-time world champion on his journey with Scuderia Ferrari. Moreover, it is also the first time the Briton has won a sprint race in his F1 career, a rather fascinating statistic.

Hamilton was overwhelmed following the victory. The F1 star made it clear that he didn’t really have words to describe what he was feeling. The 40-year-old acknowledged that it was not a Grand Prix victory. However, he mentioned that this was a good stepping stone for Ferrari as he aims to potentially fight for the world title this season.
It’s hard to put into words what it feels like. Obviously it’s a sprint race, not the main race, but it’s a good stepping stone to what I’ve been working towards.
Lewis Hamilton said in post-race press conference
Certainly, Lewis Hamilton will receive a major morale boost following the Sprint win in Shanghai. The seven-time world champion was in dire need of a positive result after last weekend, and things could not have gone better in China. However, there is still a lot left for the Briton to achieve. Hamilton would now be setting his sights on clinching pole position on his way to take the win on Sunday.
