Riley Green Says He Got Roasted By His Friends For Winning People’s “Sexiest Country Star” Title

Somebody get this man (another) trophy.

People recently named a “Sexiest Country Star,” which included nominees in Riley Green, Cody Johnson, Shaboozey, and Warren Zeiders, and of course, it went to Riley… I don’t think it was much of a competition, honestly.

Riley is a fan-favorite among the ladies for his obvious good looks and down home southern charm, in addition to his great music, and you’ll often see his name in the headlines for any number of items from regular bras to sticky bras and even other undergarments getting thrown onstage at him… so yeah, I think this was pretty much a given.

A record-setting 350,000 people voted this year, and surely the ladies have been keeping up with his many thirst traps on Instagram, in addition to his acoustic videos where he debuts new songs and occasionally posts a shirtless picture in the warmer months…

I feel like Riley could easily continue to win in this category if they keep including him for the foreseeable future, but it’s not the first year that country music has had a moment in the Sexiest Man Alive issue.

And last night during some press for the CMA Awards, Riley reacted to winning a much different award than anything he’s ever won for his music during an interview with People, saying he never received a trophy or anything like that, just some texts from his friends giving him a hard time:

“I haven’t gotten anything for that yet, other than a bunch of texts from my buddies giving me a hard time. It would be cool to get a trophy, just anything like that.”

I mean, they’re not your real friends if they don’t roast you a little…

Riley took home three CMA Awards yesterday, tying with Ella Langley and Lainey Wilson for the most wins of the night. He shared all of his wins with Ella for their song You Look Like You Love Me,” taking home Single of the Year Song of the Year (shared with songwriter Aaron Raitiere) and Music Video of the Year.
