90s Country Icon’s Teeth Fall Out Mid-Performance During Washington Concert: “The Show Must Go On”

Life is unpredictable. You never know what’s coming next. Sometimes, you just have to roll with the punches as life throws you a series of curveballs. If you’re LeAnn Rimes, you may have to roll with the punches in front of a huge crowd of fans. She did just that during her show on Saturday (June 21) at the Skagit Valley Casino & Resort in Bow, Washington.
Stars experience a wide range of less-than-optimal situations while onstage. Wardrobe malfunctions, failing equipment, a sound guy who isn’t paying attention, and any number of other things can throw a wrench into the well-oiled machine that is a concert. During the country icon’s recent show in Washington, Rimes had to weather a dental malfunction. While performing her 1996 No. 1 single “One Way Ticket (Because I Can),” her bridge fell out. However, she was able to push through the issue and finish her set.
The next day, Rimes took to social media to tell her fans and followers about her unique issue and how she powered through it to finish the concert.
For those who are unaware, a dental bridge is a prosthetic used to replace one or more missing teeth. They’re usually anchored to other teeth, crowns, or dental implants. They’re not supposed to come out, and when they do, replacing them is a more complicated process than just popping the prosthetic back into place. However, that’s all Rimes could do while onstage.
LeAnn Rimes Laughs Off Her Onstage Dental Issue
“I’m gonna do a little story time about how the show must go on,” LeAnn Rimes said in the video. “This is the most epic example of how the show must go on,” she added. “Last night, I was onstage in the middle of ‘One Way Ticket’ and I felt something pop in my mouth,” she recalled. “If you’ve been around, you know that I’ve had a lot of dental surgeries, and I have a bridge in front, and it fell out in the middle of my song last night.”
Rimes said she panicked, told the crowd to “hold on,” and went to the side of the stage to pop her bridge back into place. However, it wouldn’t stay. “I just had to get real with everybody and tell them exactly what was happening, or else I would have had to walk off stage. For the rest of the show… I was pushing my teeth in, like, every couple of lines.”
“It was the most epic experience, ever,” Rimes said. “I don’t usually have firsts in my career. That was a first and hopefully a last. I hope my teeth stay in tonight. We shall see.”
LeAnn Rimes was able to laugh about the experience and even made a joke about her Sunday night show at the same venue. “For the front row, get ready for something to fly out. If you catch them, please return them,” she said.
She ended the video with some wisdom for anyone who spends any amount of time on a stage in front of people. “The show can go on, even in the midst of sheer, utter embarrassment. You just got to be real with people.”
