Injuries have taken their toll on Tiger Woods for some time during his career and it could be time for something different.
Woods, who started off his career by saying “hello world,” has taken the golf world by storm ever since and PGA Tour Champions winner Stewart Cink believes that may well be the case again on a different tour. “He might have to say, ‘Hello world,’ one more time,” said when speaking to Golfweek, suggesting the PGA Champions Tour as a route go down.
However, Woods had his seventh back surgery in October and his injury count is over 30. At this point any return at all would be enormous.
Woods has confirmed that he will be at the TGL season opener to cheer on his teammates in January, but hasn’t said if he will be swinging a club.
“I’ll be there for every match! Looking forward to seeing everyone on January 13th for our home opener. And @willlowerygolf, hands off my sticks!,” said Woods on X confirming his appearance at his golf show that he and Rory McIlroy started.
Woods is eligible to play on the PGA Tour Champions as soon as he turns 50, on Dec. 30, but there is a concern that him playing on the Champions Tour will take away the hype from the PGA.
“That’s if the (PGA) Tour wants him to play out here,” said two-time PGA Tour winner Tom Pernice Jr.. “Does the Tour want Tiger to stay over there (on the PGA Tour) as opposed to play over here (on the Senior Tour)? That is the question.”

“What’s the buy-in for a PGA Tour event that nobody is going to watch the minute Tiger Woods shows up to play a Champions Tour event? That’s what I think they are worried about,” added PGA Tour winner Billy Andrade.
“If he shows up out here, our Tour is changed, and it will be interesting to see how the PGA Tour handles it.”
Woods is an 82-time PGA Tour winner, and a 15-time major winner, but has never seemed to let injuries get in the way of his career. He has been sidelined for an incredible amount of tournaments, yet none of them have shut him completely down just yet.
In May of 2011, Woods had to withdraw from The Players Championship after nine holes and left early from TPC Sawgrass for the second consecutive year.
In April of 2014, Woods announced that he would miss The Masters for the first time ever in his professional career. In the month prior, he had experienced pain in his lower back and had to withdraw on the 13th green of the Honda Classic.
Then in April of 2015 after more injuries meaning he hadn’t played competitively since Fall of 2015, announced he would miss the Masters for the second time in his career and in three years.
