It has proved to be an extremely difficult year for Max Homa, with the 34-year-old missing seven cuts in 16 starts on the PGA Tour in 2025.

As things stand, Max Homa has got a mountain to climb if he is going to qualify for the playoffs at the end of the season on the PGA Tour. Homa currently sits 122nd in the FedEx Cup standings and is on the cusp of falling out of the top 100 in the world rankings.
It has been a surprising turn of events given that Homa was very much in the mix to win The Masters during the early stages of the second nine on Sunday last year.
Unfortunately, putting four quality rounds together has proved to be a real problem for Homa. You would have to go back to The Sentry for the last time he broke 70 in all four rounds – and that still only earned him a tied for 26th place finish at Kapalua.
Max Homa lauds Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa as he seeks a return to form
Homa is an incredibly popular player on the PGA Tour. And it seems that many of his peers have been desperate to see him rediscover his old form.
Speaking ahead of the John Deere Classic, Homa was asked about whether he does chat with fellow players about his fortunes. And it seems that Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa have been particularly invested in seeing their countryman succeed.
“Yeah, you know, played nine holes with Jason Day yesterday. We talked about a lot of things. He’s always a breath of fresh air out here. He’s a wealth of knowledge. Justin Thomas has been like the greatest friend you could ever ask for through all of this. Collin Morikawa, too. Just talks to me all the time. On his off weeks he’ll check in on me, how it’s going. He did it all last week,” he said.

“So I have the utmost respect for him. I owe him a ton just giving his time and the fact that he really cares. So that has been really helpful.
“Obviously I’m lucky I’ve got an amazing wife, but it is nice to hear it from people who kind of have gone through — not gone through it, but just that play the game. It’s hard to explain at times why something feeling bad is so disruptive.
“Obviously you get to listen to a two-time major champion, he’s won a ton of golf tournaments out here. It’s very fortunate to have somebody like that to lean on.”

He does not need to worry about the prospect of losing his card for the time-being, having won most recently back in 2023.
However, he will almost certainly be feeling the pressure to turn his form around in the near future given how important being in the signature events will be in the years to come.
