Luke Bryan shares about the “decline of the moral foundation” of society, which is at an alarming level as many country stars are caught up in ‘strange substances’ while performing.

Luke Bryan has given an official statement on the viral video of him getting smoked in the face with a ball at a recent concert.
The country music star has finally gotten back into the regular swing of things after battling with a pesky case of COVID over the summer. But that’s the dangerous thing about life sometimes, right? Just when you get back on your feet, something comes around and hits you smack dab in the middle of the face, just to keep you humble.
This time for Luke Bryan… literally.
The epidemic of concert goers throwing things at performers has slowed down, but it hasn’t stopped. We’ve seen plenty of example of country music stars taking one to the chin while up on stage, and for them it’s a little infuriating. Why should they be up on stage and have to worry about getting pelted with something someone throws from the audience?
Bryan was playing “Country Girl” for his encore at the North Dakota State Fair when an unidentified flying object (now identified as hacky sack ball of some sort) came soaring through the air and smacked him right in the face. Impressively, the 49-year-old country star took the hit like a champ, and he got right back into the song after taking a second to recover.
Not sure why fans feel the need to hurl things at their favorite artists like this:
You’ve got to admit that Luke Bryan handled that surprisingly well. After powering through his “summer chest cold” and taking a ball to noggin’ like that, you can’t say that the “That’s My Kind Of Night” singer isn’t tough. You can even see him give a laugh to the crowd after it, but he definitely looked pretty mad about it at first, and he admitted as much. He talked more about that ball to the face in a recent interview.
Bryan discussed how the incident might have been blown out of proportion. Some headlines suggested that the country star got hit with a baseball. That wasn’t the case. Luke describes the object as more of a hacky sack, and he also explained why he did happen to react when it hit him:
“It was this little beach ball thing. Like a hacky sack. When I’m sitting there singing, and I’m just doing my deal and it comes into my frame, obviously I flinched. It got me.”
Yeah, if the fan was aiming for Luke Bryan’s face, it was a bullseye.
The 49-year-old singer was then asked to provide his “official statement” on the matter. He gladly did so, and in terms of interview responses, Bryan laid down some absolute bars about the moral fabric of society and fan entitlement in 2025:
“My official statement is people throw things at artists and they’re idiots. It’s the deterioration of the moral fabric of how your a** ought to act. This is not a new thing. That was a great thing to get thrown at me. It was a little beach ball. I’ve had $1,100 cell phones get thrown at me.
They put it on video and they throw it up there. Let’s just showcase entitlement. ‘I’ve got an $1,100 iPhone that I’m gonna throw at an artist to get a picture.’”
That showcasing of entitlement line by Luke Bryan hits the nail right on the head. And he’s right about it not being anything new, we just now have those aforementioned $1,100 cell phones capturing every second of every show, and then pasting it on the internet for everybody to see.
I wish the country star coming out and calling fans who throw things on stage idiots was enough to make it stop. But unfortunately, we’ll likely see another artist get pelted with a flying object sooner rather than later. Hopefully it’s just another harmless hacky sack…
