Lainey Wilson Hopes Her Wedding Dress Will Leave Fiancé Devlin ‘Duck’ Hodges ‘Boohooing’

Lainey Wilson has her wedding jewelry covered, but is still in search of a dress.

While chatting with PEOPLE about her latest glam venture, The Lainey Wilson Jewelry Collection, the country music star, 33, opened up about how wedding planning is coming along with her fiancé, Devlin “Duck” Hodges.

Although the pair are “trying to get into the planning stages,” they’re not in a rush. The couple announced in February that Hodges popped the question with a sparkling diamond ring inside a mini cowboy hat-shaped box, which will soon be featured in Wilson’s new jewelry brand.

“Man, I tell you what, trying to wrangle me in is, it’s a lot,” Wilson admits to PEOPLE. “But I will say even the hat box situation, he proposed to me with the little hat box, and so just being able to do that and also at the same time be celebrating our engagement and our love, it feels good.”

First on Wilson’s to-do list is finding her wedding dress.

“I need to go dress shopping or I need to talk to somebody about making a dress,” she says. “I need to go get fitted. How about that? That’s the first step.”

She hopes that Hodges — who has been her “biggest supporter” through everything — will be brought to tears during her walk down the aisle.

“I’m excited to just step outside of the box and see what happens,” Wilson shares. “So hopefully when he sees me, he’ll be boohooing.”

She gushes that her soon-to-be husband is her “biggest cheerleader,” so his behavior on their wedding day will be no different.

“The sky is the limit, that’s how he acts about everything,” she says. “He’s just the place that I get to call home and I’m lucky to have him and I think he’s pretty dang lucky to have me, too.”

Back in March during her appearance on The Kelleigh Bannen Show, Wilson revealed whether or not she would wear her signature bell-bottoms at her nuptials.

“I’m going to wear a dress,” she said. “I hadn’t done the whole dress shopping. We haven’t even picked a date or anything like that. We got some time, but I figured, you know what? I hadn’t worn a dress for him yet, and I guess that would be the day to do it.”

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE in July, Wilson and Hodges revealed the one rule that keeps their relationship strong.

“You have to definitely carve out the time,” Wilson said at the time. “It has to be something that you’re very aware of, and you’re like, ‘Okay, I’ve got a day off here in 10 days. I’ve got to dedicate that day to spend time with my person.’ “

She continued: “And we both need that and deserve that, and it’s always great. We just try to soak up those moments as best as we possibly can.”
