Kacey Musgraves Calls Out Kid Rock After Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show

Kacey Musgraves had some strong words for Kid Rock at the end of Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Feb. 8.
As you may have heard, the “All Summer Long” rocker headlined Turning Point USA’s All-American Halftime Show. When it was announced last October, it was billed as a family-friendly alternative to the “Moscow Mule” singer’s performance. Lee Brice, Brantley Gilbert, and Gabby Barrett were also on the bill.
When he was announced as a headliner last week, Kid Rock said, “[Bad Bunny] said he’s having a dance party, wearing a dress, and singing in Spanish? Cool. We plan to play great songs for folks who love America.”
However, many took issue with how the 55-year-old’s lyrics contradicted the wholesome values that the event was meant to highlight.
Well, Musgraves commented on the patriotism in Kid Rock’s music on X. We have the details below.
How Did Kid Rock and the “All-American Halftime Show” Go?
The answer to that question depends on who you talk to. While many criticized the technical delays of the live-streamed event, it has been reported that at its peak, nearly five to six million viewers watched Turning Point USA’s event.
During the performance, many commented that the show was “awesome,” patriotic,” and “very moving.”
Some pointed out that Kid Rock lip-synced through his hit “Bawitdaba,” while others noted that many of the songs performed felt too political for a show that was billed as an alternative to what many critics felt was a political choice in Bad Bunny.
The 35-minute show was also a tribute of sorts to Charlie Kirk. The work of the political activist, who was assassinated last year, was highlighted several times during the show.
What Did Kacey Musgraves Have to Say About Bad Bunny?
It’s safe to assume that Musgraves watched Bad Bunny’s performance. After it wrapped up, she wrote this on X:
“Well. That made me feel more proudly American than anything Kid Rock has ever done.”
Kid Rock will probably take Musgraves’ comment in stride. As many criticized his selection for the All-American Halftime Show, he posted a quote from Kobe Bryant explaining his “Mamba Mentality.” We believe he’ll apply it here, too.
It reads, “Learn to love the hate.”
