Kelsea Ballerini Reveals How Chase Stokes Inspires Her To Be The Best Version Of Herself

On February 6, fans noticed that Kelsea had unfollowed Chase on Instagram. A source also confirmed with Us Weekly that the couple has broken up for a third time but that Kelsea is “taking it better” than she had in the past.

“Kelsea and Chase have broken up again,” the source shared. “It happened just the other day.”

This follows Kelsea’s appearance at the Grammys on Sunday, when she gave reporters an update on the status of their relationship. Ballerini and Stokes reconciled at the beginning of this year, after splitting up in September.

In an Instagram update confirming that they were back together, Chase shared, “Something I’ve learned this year: don’t take advantage of the most beautiful things that in 33 years of life are fleeting. Take accountability, learn from mistakes. Lean into love and say it often. 2026 my year of growth, my year of truth. Starting here, starting now. Happy new Years ??.”

Kelsea told Entertainment Tonight, “I feel like outwardly [the breakup] looked a lot more dramatic than it was. And that was quite the learning lesson for us, but I love him so much. We’ve been together for quite a while now and have done a lot of life together. He was with me getting ready today, and he’ll be with me when we wrap.” She continued, saying, “Yeah, I love love and I believe in it.”

Chase did not accompany Ballerini on the red carpet for the Grammys.

The Madelyn Cline Instagram Story

Fans were also quick to notice that shortly after the Grammys, Madelyn Cline, Chase’s costar on Outer Banks and ex-girlfriend, had unfollowed the actor. This followed a story on Cline’s Instagram featuring a photo of her and Kelsea Ballerini laughing together.

In an interview with Alex Cooper from Call Her Daddy back in 2023, Kelsea spoke highly of Madelyn. “I met her, and I talked to her, and she’s lovely, and I think she’s wildly talented.” The Patterns singer continued, “I think the internet did its best to make it really weird, and it just didn’t work for them.”

Now knowing that Ballerini and Chase’s relationship has “run its course,” according to a source from TMZ, it’s hard not to wonder what the singer and actress might have been laughing about.
