Jelly Roll is sharing the secret to keeping his marriage to Bunnie Xo going strong.
The “Need a Favor” singer, 40, revealed in the latest episode of The Pivot podcast what he’s learned from his marriage with the Dumb Blonde podcaster, 44, whom he met in 2015 and wed in 2016.
“I learned something in marriage, man. Anybody who tells you, ‘It’s a one size fits all,’ [are gonna] get divorced,” the musician shared. “You know what I’m saying? I can tell you that much.”
“Anybody who thinks their marriage is a one-size-fits-all all kind of glove, that’s ending in the next decade for sure,” he continued, adding, “People are gonna change … You better evolve with the m———ing times … That’s the only choice you got, dude.”

Aside from that, Jelly Roll shared that another important aspect of his marriage to Bunnie Xo — whose real name is Alyssa DeFord — is that they “enjoy each other’s company” no matter what the situation is.
Elsewhere in the podcast, he admitted that he currently felt “so secure” in his marriage and said that their marriage only “keeps getting better” after dealing with tough things in the early years of their relationship.
“I guess we went through the hardest s— the first few years because, man, it’s only getting smoother,” he shared. “It’s not even more like I’m just settled in. Like, it’s not even that old stale marriage where they’re just like, you know, like, we’re roommates. You know what I mean?”
“It’s like, we’re just really getting better,” the star continued. “Dude, I love her, man … That’s my partner, man … I used to hate it when people go, ‘That’s my person.’ But I’m like, she’s my person. You know what I’m saying? Like, that’s my person, dude.”
The couple met when Bunnie Xo attended one of Jelly Roll’s concerts at Las Vegas’ Country Saloon in 2015. They chatted backstage and though the podcaster was in a relationship at the time, the pair kept in touch via mutual friends. When Bunnie Xo became single not long after, their friendship quickly turned romantic.

In 2016, Jelly Roll asked Bunnie Xo to marry him while on stage in Las Vegas and the pair spontaneously married in a courthouse wedding later that night. Bunnie Xo became stepmom to Jelly’s kids, son Noah, 8, and daughter Bailee Ann, 16.
Earlier this month, the pair opened up about potentially expanding their family. Bunnie opened up on TikTok about the road to having a child together.
“I’m literally going through IVF treatments right now — the hormones, the shots, all that,” she said at the time. “I’m going through all of the emotions, the rollercoaster, [and] the worry, just so that I can have a little piece of my husband and me — just a little piece wrapped in skin— to just add to the other two beautiful children that we have together.”
