It took awhile to get there, but Lainey Wilson’s career is on fire.
She enters Thursday’s (May 8) 60th ACM Awards ceremony with seven nominations. Additionally, the “Heart Like a Truck” singer just scored her first role in a major motion picture, appearing in Universal’s film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel, Reminders of Him. Somehow, Wilson is still finding time to write new music. The reigning Entertainer of the Year just released a snippet of a breathtaking new track, and fans are already in love.
Is Lainey Wilson Teasing New Music?
Taking to social media Tuesday (May 6) Lainey Wilson shared a carousel of photos depicting her latest flight. “My heads 30,000 feet in the clouds,” the “Watermelon Moonshine” hitmaker captioned the post.
The caption makes more sense once you reach the last slide. Wilson posted a clip showing just her fingers flying over some piano keys as she sings: Caught me a red eye flight outta Houston / Found me a window seat with a view / Head out west for south California / One Tito’s in, I’m thinkin’ about you in that little border town / Where the desert blows gold when the sun goes down / My head’s 30,000 feet in the clouds knowing 20 minutes from now.
The Baskin, Louisiana native leaves us all on a cliffhanger, but fans are excited nonetheless. “Oh Lainey! I can’t wait for this release!!!!!!” one Instagram user commented.
Wilson last released a full-length album in August 2024, with the Album of the Year-nominated Whirlwind.
“We Were All Just Trying To Hold It Together Out There”
In addition to her seven nominations, Lainey Wilson will take the stage at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, alongside Miranda Lambert and Reba McEntire. The dynamic trio will premiere their new song, “Trailblazer,” during the 2025 ACM Awards.
As the three rehearsed for Thursday’s (May 8) performance, Wilson admits, “All of us had tears in our eyes.”
“It just felt, we could just feel the energy and we were also happy to be able to share the stage with each other,” she told Country Now. “So I hope other little girls are watching at home and can just see that women who stick together get it done and that’s what its about.”
