Sam Thompson heartbreakingly reacts to ex Zara’s hard launch with Louis Tomlinson
Sam Thompson has reacted to his ex Zara McDermott hard launching her relationship with One Direction star, Louis Tomlinson. It’s never going to be nice seeing your ex with someone new, but Sam has taken it particularly badly.
Zara is believed to have been dating Louis for a few months now, and last week they finally went Instagram official. The couple posted a picture of them kissing, with a love heart emoji as the caption. Speaking on the Staying Relevant podcast, Sam Thompson has revealed the exact moment he found out about the hard launch, and the pretty bad reaction he had to it.
He said when the post was made, his phone was filled with messages from friends asking him if he was alright. At this point, he didn’t know what they were on about. “I’m watching some YouTube video and my phone just starts blowing up,” he told co-host and best friend Pete Wicks. “I thought I’d been cancelled!”
He added: “Mate it’s dinged up, you know when everyone is like, ‘Just checking in mate, is everything ok?’ and I’m looking at my phone like ‘What is going on?’.
“And genuinely you know what it’s like when you don’t quite know what’s happened so you think the worst. Tell you what though, wouldn’t wish a hard launch on my worst enemy though.”
Zara has also previously reacted to Sam moving on since their relationship. Sam was previously linked to Love Island All Star Samie Elishi, and at the time Zara said it’s “not nice seeing your ex kissing someone else”. So, she knows how it feels!
On New Year’s Day, it was reported Sam and Zara had ended things. An insider told MailOnline: “Sam and Zara have ended their relationship. It’s been an incredibly difficult decision for them to part ways, they still care and have a lot of love for each other. But after a tough year of working hard at their romance, they have split and will be focusing on their individual careers going forward into 2025.”
However, a further source said it was because of their 2020 cheating scandal, and Zara and Sam had never got over it. “Zara and Sam’s relationship just never had felt like it was heading for the long haul. They never really recovered from Zara’s cheating, most couples would have struggled lasting for as long as they did afterwards,” they said.
