Kim Kardashian Changes Her Story on Decade-Long Rumor About North West

The reality star clarified the speculation surrounding her eldest child.

Kim Kardashian is setting the record straight on a viral moment with her daughter North West.

In October 2014, a video surfaced of the reality star, now 44, exiting a Paris hotel and walking to a waiting car without a then-1-year-old North. Instead of getting in the car, Kardashian paused and turned around to reenter the hotel. She subsequently left the building a second time carrying North in her arms and got in the car with her daughter.

In a Friday, July 11, Instagram Story post, Kardashian addressed speculation that she had forgotten North inside the hotel after a fan account reposted the clip.

“I wanted to show off the look before holding her,” she wrote of her distressed pink hoodie, matching leggings and gray coat, “[because] her outfit didn’t match mine!”

She went on to emphasize, “I didn’t forget her!!!!”

While Kardashian’s explanation seems believable enough, she already spoke out about the incident in October 2014 with a different justification.

“I went to the car to make sure the car seat was in because the day before we had a car seat issue,” she wrote via X (formerly Twitter) at the time.

Kardashian also clarified that North was supervised the entire time despite her own solo trip outside of the hotel.

“Do u guys really think a 1-year-old would be inside the lobby by herself,” she added. “Oh wait she was waiting to check out lol.”

Kardashian’s new account of the incident sparked plenty of fan reactions online.

“This explanation … Kim always going to be Kim,” one Reddit user wrote, while another chimed in, “I had to check if this was real because wtf?!? It’s even worse lmfao!”

A third Reddit user replied, “It’s the fact that she thinks this explanation is any better than her forgetting her in the room.”

Kardashian shares North, now 12, son Saint, 9, daughter Chicago, 7, and son Psalm, 6, with ex-husband Kanye West, to whom she was married from 2014 to 2022.
