Faith Hill Seems To Have Disappeared From Country Music, And She May Not Be Coming Back

Faith Hill seems to have disappeared from country music, and she may not be coming back. The former country music superstar had a lengthy list of hits, spanning almost two decades. Hill had a No. 1 hit with her debut single, “Wild One,” in 1993. That song was followed by several more radio hits, including “Take Me As I Am,” “Piece of My Heart,” “This Kiss” and more.

In 1999, Hill became a worldwide star, thanks to the success of “Breathe,” a multi-week chart-topping single in both pop and country. Suddenly a crossover sensation, Hill enjoyed success with “The Way You Love Me,” “There You’ll Be” and “Cry,” among others.

But fans who are hoping for a comeback might be disappointed. Hill’s last solo single was “American Girl,” released in 2012. She had two more singles in 2017, with “Speak to a Girl” and “The Rest of Our Life,” both duets with her husband, Tim McGraw, which were her last two releases.

Artists have often taken breaks, and emerged several years later with new music. But while Hill has never announced she is retiring, all signs seem to point in that direction.

For one, Hill no longer has any social media presence. Her X (formerly Twitter), Facebook and Instagram accounts have all been deleted. While McGraw continues to perform, Hill stays on the sidelines. She joined Taylor Swift for one show as part of Swift’s Reputation Tour in 2018, but has mostly stayed away from any performing. Furthermore, her website is completely blank.

Hill’s last solo studio album was Fireflies, out in 2005. In 2011, she said she wanted to do another album, but that never materialized.

“I would like to have a record out, but it hasn’t been the right thing yet,” Hill told Billboard. “I don’t want it to be just another record. It’s a lot of work to support a record, so I just want it to be… really great. I want it to represent where I am as a woman. I don’t want it to be fake; I want it to be authentic and real.”

If Hill does decide to record another album, she will have the full support of her husband. McGraw says she makes him want to sing better.

“To me, she’s one of the top singers in any genre of music in the world,” McGraw tells SiriusXM.
