Errol Musk believes that his son, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, will ultimately “lose” in his confrontation with US President Donald Trump, the world’s most powerful politician.

The conflict between the two former allies over Trump’s “Big and Beautiful” spending and tax bill escalated into a social media war on June 5.

Elon Musk, who stepped down as head of the Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE) last week, said that Trump would have lost if he had not been supported by the American billionaire. Musk also supported the idea of impeaching Trump and warned of crippling the US space program by stopping the operation of the Dragon spacecraft.

For his part, Trump said that the tech billionaire had “lost his mind” and asserted that Musk was actually angry because he “proposed to strip the Electric Vehicle Mandate Act” from which Musk had benefited.

In an interview with Al Arabiya on June 6, Mr. Errol Musk commented: “In the conflict with my son, Mr. Trump will of course win because he was elected by the majority of the American people. I just spent 3 weeks in the US, the people there, I want to say 80%, but in fact 100% are on Mr. Trump’s side.”

It is not clear where Mr. Errol got these statistics from.

He revealed that after the conflict broke out, he sent a message to Elon Musk to advise his son to “stop everything right now”.

“What is happening, as you know, is that the men have won the opposition and become at odds with each other,” Mr. Errol Musk said.

He noted that both Trump and Musk “have been under a lot of pressure. You can expect that to happen when you’re in the spotlight 24/7. Eventually, they’re going to snap. I think they’re both just tired,” he explained of the conflict.

Asked if Musk could end the conflict quickly, the 79-year-old said that if it did, “it would just be a minor bump” in the Trump-McDonald relationship.

Asked if the two could go back to being friends, Musk said: “Of course. Of course.”
