Country music star Riley Green sparked outrage after posing with a slain animal he killed less than 12 months after he was hospitalized for a hunting injury.

The 37-year-old shared the images in a carousel on his Instagram account, captioning the post: ‘That was a hell of a drag out… blessed to be back out here #weouthere #bowhunting #bigboy.’

In the first image, he was lying down in the shrubbery with the giant dead deer spread out in front of him.

Green struck a relaxed pose, lying with his feet near the buck’s head with his legs splayed and his arms behind his head.

In the second picture, which was more graphic, the singer sat behind the deer carcass, propping it up.

The animal was covered in blood, which was running down from near its neck to its leg, while Green held its head up, grinning at the camera.

In a video shared to his Instagram story of the dead animal, he wrote: ‘My kind of leg day.’

His post divided viewers, with some appalled at the cavalier attitude and his decision to share it with his followers.

‘Sad for this beautiful creature… should have let him be,’ one follower commented on the post.

‘Okay… But to pose with this dead animal? Excuse me, no!’ said someone else.

A third fan wrote: ‘I like you, but this is so unpleasant…’

‘You hunt animals for fun? Bye mate… love your music but ain’t no way I can support anyone who proudly hunts and kills for fun,’ declared someone else.

‘I’d understand if you were hunting it for food but to kill it and then pose beside its body like a total p***k,’ slammed another.

Others defended the country star’s decision to share his hunting adventures online.

‘He’s a country boy, what do you expect? And if he eats the meat and not just using it as a ‘trophy’ what is wrong with living off the land?!’ someone clapped back.

‘I’m still convinced you’re just a hunter who sings on the side,’ quipped another.

Green often shares his hunting adventures on social media, sharing a similar series of photos on his Instagram last year.

In January, the You Look Like You Love Me singer revealed he was hospitalized after suffering an accident to his foot while hunting.

‘At the emergency room, ’cause I stepped on a nail,’ he said in a video shared at the time.

He showed his foot, with one of his boots removed.

‘Impaled my foot, and when I took my boot off, corn fell all over the floor,’ Green laughed in the video.

‘The lady came in here wanting to know where all the corn came from. It’s from my boot. You don’t want me to take this other one off, either,’ he jokingly added. ‘It’s real-world problems.’
