More legal trouble…

Kata Hay, a country singer and former contestant on The Voice, is back behind bars after police put out an alert asking the public for help locating the troubled artist.
Hay, whose real name is Kata Huddleston, was a contestant on the 10th season of the reality singing competition, where she earned a spot on Christina Aguilera’s team with her audition performance of “Redneck Woman.” She would later go on to be eliminated during week 1 of the live shows after a performance of Aretha Franklin’s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.”
But since her time on the show, Hay has found herself in frequent legal trouble. Back in 2022, the then-35 year old was arrested in Sumner County, Tennessee, just outside of Nashville, on charges of having sexual contact with a 16 year old. She plead guilty to the charges and spent 6 months in jail.
In that case, prosecutors say that Hay was friends with the victim’s mother and staying at their home at the time when Hay “forced herself” on the 16-year old. During a hearing after her guilty plea, Hay apologized to the victim in court:
“I wanna cause no more suffering for anyone. I’m truly sorry.”
At the time of the arrest, Hay was already on probation for a 2017 DUI charge out of Nashville. But now, she’s facing even more serious charges.
Earlier this week, the Goodlettsville Police Department in Davidson County, Tennessee (the same county as Nashville) put out an alert asking for help locating Hay, who was wanted on a warrant for vehicular homicide.
Police say the warrant stems from a crash on Long Hollow Pike near I-65, and that Hay was believed to be traveling to Oklahoma with a male companion while towing a large trailer.
Just a day later, it was announced that Hay was located in Oklahoma and taken into custody:
“The Goodlettsville Police Department would like to thank the multitude of citizens who called in with tips as to the location of Ms. Huddleston. As a direct result we are pleased to announce that she was arrested early this morning in Oklahoma where she will be extradited back to Davidson County.”
As of right now it doesn’t appear that she’s been extradited back to Nashville yet, and a search of the Davidson County jail records show that she’s not yet in their custody.
The troubled singer also has pending charges in Davidson County for 2nd offense DUI, leaving the scene of an accident over $1,500 in damage, and open container.
Since her time on The Voice, Hay has continued to her music and other videos to social media, including this one from just days before the deadly crash where she says she’s “just trying to get through life.”
Just a terrible situation. At the time of her previous conviction, Hay was ordered to complete intensive outpatient treatment for her alcohol problems, but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like it was enough.
