Bunnie Xo Hilariously Reacts To ‘Love Island’ Using Jelly Roll’s “Save Me” During Episode: “Who Needs To Be Saved?”
In Bunnie Xo we trust.
Stories like this make my reality-TV addicted heart sing. It’s the perfect crossover of something that occupies my free time and my career, creating a topic on which I could speak for hours. However, I will spare you, readers, from that and keep this as brief and concise as possible.
If you’re anything like me, then you’ve been glued to your TV every night watching Love Island. The reality dating show first took off in the UK, bringing together hot singles to explore new connections and testing couples to see how much they like each other. If a couple withstands the tests along with new “bombshells” being brought into the villa, they have a chance to win a massive cash prize.
What makes this dating show so much more entertaining than The Bachelor is that it’s all happening in real time. Episodes are released each night, highlighting what’s been happening in the villa over the last day or so. And to make things even better, viewers can vote on who their favorite couples are or least favorite singles, which can lead to them being voted off the island.
The UK phenomenon has been franchised to other nations, such as Australia and the United States. This season of USA is currently underway, with thousands of people tuning into Peacock each night to see the drama unfold. This season, one woman, named Huda, has been at the center of the drama. She coupled up with a man named Jeremiah, and it became very obvious that she was closed off to exploring other connections, wanting him for herself and only her.
(Which is kind of hard given nearly every challenge in the show requires contestants to make out with each other.)
So, when a new girl, Iris, was brought into the villa and the viewers voted for her and Jeremiah to go on a date, Huda entirely crashed out.
I’m not going to lie, I love a good reality TV fight, but some of her reactions were very concerning, and many fans of the show thought that production would pull her from the cast. But they did not and have kept her in the mix to keep fans hooked.
I digress.. back to Jeremiah going on a date.
After the date, Huda pulled Iris aside to chat with her about what had been said, whether Jeremiah was interested in exploring their connection, and more. Now I felt like Huda and Jeremiah were slightly toxic for each other to begin with, and this conversation solidified that when Huda was so upset that she had to sit in the sun all day while her man was talking to another woman on the beach. It’s almost like she forgot the kind of show she signed up for!
During their conversation, Iris tells Huda that their date was a beach picnic, and the way Huda reacted made it seem like Jeremiah stabbed her in the back, planning her “dream date” with another woman. Sounds like a conversation that needs to be taken up with production. In this scene, after Huda begins to show that she’s upset by this, the show chose to highlight the Jelly Roll song “Save Me.”
“Somebody save me, me from myself
I’ve spent so long living in Hell
They say my lifestyle is bad for my health
It’s the only thing that seems to help…”
I’m not going to lie, I rocked out a little bit to the song after this scene, but when Bunnie Xo caught wind that her husband’s music was featured on the episode, she was met with pure confusion given the depth of the song’s lyrics.
“I heard they used J’s song ‘Save Me’ on ‘Love Island?’ Why? Who needs to be saved?!”
Bunnie and her friends then debrief on what’s been going on on the show, giggling about the scene they chose to feature “Save Me” during. While I’m not sure this is the struggle that Jelly Roll imagined his song would be used to get through, I have to give it to production; it makes the moment way more dramatic.
Bunnie Xo then says she’s going to begin watching Love Island just for Huda and said that she would have her on the podcast. And it’s true, Bunnie Xo fashion, she has respect for Huda’s dance moves, given her profession as a midnight dancer.
“I saw her shakin’ her a** and was like ‘Heyyy.’ Even more reason to love her.”
If Bunnie Xo has Huda on the Dumb Blonde Podcast after this season, I will be sat for that episode.
