Blake Shelton Reacts to Rumors That He and Wife Gwen Stefani Are Getting a Divorce

The singers met as coaches on ‘The Voice’ in 2014, started dating in 2015 and got married in 2021

Blake Shelton is clearing up rumors that he and Gwen Stefani are calling it quits.

While co-hosting Country Countdown USA on Saturday, Jan. 10, the 49-year-old country singer responded to rumors he’s been seeing since October that he and the “Hollaback Girl” singer, 56, whom he wed in 2021, are on their way to getting a divorce.

“I started noticing these articles popping up about ‘Blake and Gwen, they’re split up,’ ” Shelton said. “ ‘They’re not even seeing each other anymore, they’re going through a divorce.’ And then, a week later, a picture comes out of us walking out of the grocery store … ‘Oh, they’re back together again!’ ”

“And another week goes by and we’re not seen at the grocery store … ‘They’re divorcing,’ ” he continued. “I see pictures of Gwen and I on social media that I really go, ‘That looks so real.’ But I know I don’t even own that shirt or, ‘Whose car is that?’ ”

The “God’s Country” singer emphasized that he doesn’t “believe anything anymore that I see on the internet.”

As for how Shelton and Stefani have kept their relationship strong over the years? In May, Shelton told PEOPLE that, by the time he and Stefani were celebrating their 10th anniversary since they started dated, it felt like barely any time had passed.

“It honestly does [feel like time is flying by],” he said at the time. “Some of the things that we talk about, we’re to the point in our relationship that it’s like, ‘Oh, remember what happened…’ and you realize, ‘Oh my God, that was 8 years ago!’ It’s like, how did this happen so quickly?”

While acknowledging that “10 years is a long time,” Shelton also reflected on how their relationship never stopped feeling “new” to him.

“I feel like that might be the key to happiness, is that it feels just as exciting and new and happy,” he explained.

For further proof that their sweet bond is still strong, Stefani rang in 2026 by sharing a video of the pair sharing a New Year’s kiss on her Instagram Stories.

“Last few hours of 2025,” she wrote over a video of them sporting festive hats and smiling. Soon after, she posted another clip of herself looking up at Shelton, who caressed her face with his hand as they kissed.

A few weeks prior to their PDA-filled holiday celebrations, a Stefani source also told PEOPLE that there was “no truth to the split rumors.”

“They’ve just been juggling demanding schedules,” the source continued. “When they are together, it’s just so obvious how solid they are.”
