Brandel Chamblee was as clear-cut as can be when providing his verdict on Charlie Woods – as the golf commentator the teenager has promising talent.
The 16-year-old – son of golf great Tiger Woods – captured the biggest victory of his young career on Wednesday when he came out on top at the Team TaylorMade Invitational in the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA).
Despite a lacklustre first round on the Black Course at Streamsong Resort, Woods fought back and finished with an impressive final score of 15-under par as he bested four of the top-five ranked AJGA players.
Closing the show with four straight pars, the youngster won the tournament by three strokes, with Luke Colton, Willie Gordon and Phillip Dunham tied behind the golf prodigy.
Being the offspring of a famous athlete will always draw eyes on you if you decide to follow in their footsteps. Being the son of Tiger Woods and opting to make it in golf is a different kettle of fish.

It was during the event when the official X account of the AJGA posted a video of Woods’ swing with one account tagging Chamblee and asking him: “Eerily reminiscent of the great Adam Scott, agree?”
Chamblee, 62, replied and made clear his view on Woods’ potential as he wrote on the social media platform: “Young Woods looks very good”.
While the young golfer fielded comparisons to the Australian golfer via that one X user, his Benjamin School coach Toby Harbeck said he thinks he shares a specific trait to his father in that the pair can be too critical on themselves.
“He’s tough on himself,” Harbeck said in November last year. “If he could just relax and play, store some of that energy, it’s good. He’s just young. He’s got a lot of Dad in him.”

The 15-time major winner himself said he thinks his son should follow in the footsteps of Masters champion Rory McIlroy when it comes to studying how to perfect the ultimate swing.
During the 2022 Hero World Challenge, he said: “I told [Charlie]: ‘Don’t copy my swing. Copy Rory’s.’ Have you ever seen Rory off balance in a shot?
“Not ever. That’s one of the things my dad instilled in me, is that you should be able to balance and hold your finish until the ball rolls and stops. You can swing as hard as you want, but you need to have balance.”
