The American Music Awards captured the attention of fans around the world yesterday as it took place in Las Vegas.
Several shock moments at the 51st AMAsTaylor Swift didn’t show up, despite many Swifties eagerly awaiting a rumoured announcement, and Blake Shelton’s performance went to air on mute.
Today, the shock continues as it has been revealed two of the show’s ‘live’ performers weren’t even present at the event.

During the live broadcast of the event, Shelton and Gwen Stefani were among the performers who took to the stage for a live performance at the widely-celebrated awards show.
But for attendees who were actually at the event, the pair were nowhere to be seen
In a video, Las Vegas-based TikToker Aly Winder said she had been excited to attend the event, mostly for Shelton and Stefani’s live performances.
She forked out money for the tickets only to be disappointed when she learned that the performances had been pre-recorded and instead watched them on an on-stage screen.
“Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani did not perform live. They were not there. It was pre-recorded performances,” Winder shared.

She said the pre-recorded performances would have been “fine” if she had been aware that would be the case.
“Don’t lie to us about it. Like I’m super pissed that we bought tickets,” she said.
“My friend and I were both excited to see Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani live, and then they say, ‘Here comes Gwen Stefani live’ to us in the audience and she’s not up there,” she continued, revealing it felt like a “slap in the face”.
“Just tell us it’s a pre-recorded performance.”
She continued to share that, alongside missing the two live performances she was looking forward to, she was also disappointed in the lack of stars actually present to receive their awards in person.
“It was really disappointing both as a fan and as a person who paid to be there,” she added.
However, Winder confirmed that other performers including Rod Stewart and Janet Jackson did in fact perform live.
Whilst her experience wasn’t what she had hoped for, she also shared praise for the parts of the night that she enjoyed.
“Benson Boone did amazing… Alex Warren did amazing, Rod Stewart: Amazing, Janet Jackson, Amazing,” she said.
“There were still so many good performances that I’m so happy that we went tonight.”
Winder’s revelation comes after Shelton’s performance was marred by technical difficulties during the live broadcast.
As Shelton’s performance went to air, no one could hear him and the only sound heard on the livestream appeared to be a pre-recorded cheer sound effect.
Initially it appeared the sound was working for those present at the live event, but now it seems it was an error airing the pre-record.
