With the legacy surrounding Dolly Parton, it only made sense that the country icon would have fans all over the world.

For decades, the singer produced hit after hit. Thanks to songs like “Jolene” and “9 to 5”, the star sold over 100 million albums. But her career went far beyond just the recording studio as she also helmed her own theme park Dollywood. And recently, Dolly celebrated the 40th anniversary season of the park, which led to a hilarious moment between the singer and one of her smallest fans.

10 Reasons Why We'll Always Love Dolly Parton

As fans lined the streets of Dollywood on March 14 to kick off a new season, Dolly rode around in a carriage, waving to people. While the crowd erupted into cheers, one 8-year–old boy couldn’t contain himself as she approached. Throughout the video, which landed on TikTok, the boy screams “Oh my God” over and over. He even waved a pom pom at Dolly.

Besides seeing the boy, Dolly took a quick moment to wave at him and even laughed at how excited the boy was to see her. Given the heartbreak of losing her husband, Carl Dean, just a few days ago, the touching moment put a smile on the singer’s face.

Online, fans understood the reaction from the small fan, writing, “Honestly, everyone should be matching his energy. It’s Dolly Parton.” Another person added, “Listen I’m 26 and I think he’s the only one acting appropriately to Dolly acknowledging him.” The comments continued to pour in as the video climbed over 1.3 million likes. “If Dolly Parton acknowledged my existence, you best believe I’d be screaming too.”

Dolly Parton Remembers First Day At Dollywood

While kicking off a new season at Dollywood, Dolly took a moment to thank fans for their continued support over the years. Having watched the theme park gain praise year after year, she said, “Thank you to our guests and the community for the support they’ve given to my Dollywood for 40 years. It’s hard to believe it has been that long, but it never would have lasted if it hadn’t been for you—our guests.”

Recalling how it all started and the first day the park opened, Dolly said, “I was just hoping that people would really want to come visit a theme park with my name on it. And even though I always try to dream big, I’ll admit I was a little bit nervous that first morning. But people did come out to support us that first day, and I’m so proud to see that Dollywood has continued to grow through the years to become a place of fun and togetherness for everyone who has come to visit.”
