That morning began like any other—hurried and stressful.
Ha, a single mother, was preparing breakfast for her daughter while constantly checking the clock. Her job as a receptionist at a large company was her only source of income. One more lateness… she knew she’d be in trouble.
She kissed her daughter’s forehead lightly and hurried out of the house.
But life rarely goes according to plan.
On her way to work, Ha saw a man lying on the side of the road, seemingly having been in a car accident. People around her glanced at him and continued on their way. Ha stopped.
She knew she didn’t have time.
But she also knew she couldn’t ignore him.
Ha ran to him and helped him up. His forehead was bleeding, and his hands trembled slightly. She called a taxi and took him to the nearest hospital. She stayed until the doctor confirmed he was not in life-threatening condition.
As she left the hospital, Ha glanced at her watch—she was almost an hour late.
She rushed to the company, her heart pounding.
But it was too late.
The manager was waiting at the reception desk, his face cold.
“You’re late again,” he said. “We warned you.”
Ha tried to explain, but her words seemed unable to change the decision.

“You’re fired.”
It was that simple.
Ha fell silent. She didn’t cry, only bowed her head and packed her belongings. A series of questions ran through her mind—rent, her child’s school fees, and what tomorrow would bring.
But deep down, she knew she had no regrets.
The next day, while Ha was still searching for a new job, her phone suddenly rang.
A warm, deep voice answered:
“Are you the one who helped me with the blunder?”
Ha froze. It was the same man from yesterday.
“I want to see you,” he said.
Ha hesitated, but then agreed.
When she arrived at the address, she stood before a large building—the headquarters of the very company that had fired her.
Before she could understand what was happening, the man stepped out.
This time, he was impeccably dressed in a suit, his demeanor completely different.
“I am the CEO of this company,” he said softly.
Ha was speechless.
“I didn’t know you were an employee here,” he continued. “But I know one thing—between arriving on time and saving someone in distress, you chose the right thing.”
He looked at her, his gaze firm.
“And I don’t want to lose someone like that.”
That same day, the firing decision was reversed.
Not only that—Ha was also offered a better position, with a higher salary and more flexible hours to care for her child.
Ha was speechless.
She only asked one question:
“Why are you helping me so much?”
The man smiled.
“Because you helped me… when you had no reason to.”
The story quickly spread throughout the company. But what everyone remembered most wasn’t the wealthy CEO—
But the choice of a single mother in her most difficult moment.
Because sometimes, losing something seemingly important…
is actually life’s way of giving us something better in return.
