Luke Bryan Still Can’t Get Over Getting Mistaken For Blake Shelton

Luke Bryan Wants to Team Up with Blake Shelton for a TV Show | B104 WBWN-FM

It seems hard to believe, but Luke Bryan was once mistaken for Blake Shelton. Bryan recently revealed that someone at a gas station once told him he looked like Shelton. Now, the American Idol judge is sharing exactly how that went down, and why it is even more ironic, considering where it took place.

“My gas station that I live nearby, one of the attendants running the cash register [mistook] me for Blake Shelton. That has been my worst thing in the neighborhood,” Bryan reveals on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

“He was so convinced,” Bryan remembers. “He’s like, ‘You’re Blake Shelton. Tell me about being Blake Shelton.’ He goes, ‘Do you get that a lot?’ I said, ‘Not much.’ My child is sitting there looking at this happen. My kid gets to see me interact in this moment. Complete social experiment for him too. The guy looked at me, and he’s like, ‘You are Blake Shelton’s doppelgänger.’ I got my sunflower seeds, and he goes, ‘Could you imagine what it would be like to have Blake Shelton’s money?’ And I said, ‘Oh, what it must be like.’”

Luke Bryan’s Success

When Kimmel asked Bryan who has more money, Bryan confidently says it is him. But regardless of whose bank account is bigger, Bryan has had plenty of success, including 31 No. 1 hits.

“I’ve tried to approach my career in the business to never take a day for granted [and] never take a hit song for granted,” Bryan tells CMT. “To hear you say 31 is really hard for me to wrap my brain around.”

Bryan works hard, but is quick to diffuse much of the credit for his lengthy career.

“It’s a testament to the fans supporting me throughout the years,” Bryan shares. “And whether I’m onstage or writing music or recording songs, I just always try to put them first and make sure I can do a song that relates to them.”

“Love You, Miss You, Mean It” is Bryan’s 31st No. 1 hit. He is back in the Top 25 with “Country Song Came On.”

“‘Love You, Miss You, Mean It’ certainly feels like it has been, and to have it be number 31, pretty crazy,” he admits.

“When I go back and look at the list of 31, it freaks me out.”
