Andy Reid Knew Exactly Who To Blame For The Chiefs’ Super Bowl 59 Blowout Loss

The Chiefs did not fare well during Sunday’s 40-22 loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, and head coach Andy Reid acknowledged that when speaking with the media after the game.
The Kansas City Chiefs wanted to make history with back-to-back-to-back championships, but Super Bowl LIX was dominated by the Philadelphia Eagles, who won the game 40-22.
It was never a contest.
Starting the second half, the Philadelphia Eagles were leading 24-0 and never looked back, as the lead would eventually balloon to 34-0 in the third quarter.
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid took responsibility for his team’s 40-22 blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles during Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.
“Today was a rough day,” Reid said Sunday night. “We didn’t really play well in any of the phases. I didn’t coach good enough. They did a nice job.
“I’m proud of our guys, though, for the battle, the fight that they put in throughout the year, and all the games that they played here over the last few years.”
The Chiefs haven’t had many of these rough experiences in the playoffs since Patrick Mahomes took over.
After the club didn’t capitalize on its chance to three-peat, Reid noted that every loss in this situation is hard.
“Listen, they all hurt,” Reid said. “You get this far — you battled your tail off to get this far. Very, very hard to do. And, you know, we spend a lot of time doing this. It’s not a hobby, right? So, we’re in it the whole way. And spend a lot of hours doing it as players, as coaches. So, it’s going to hurt.
“They all hurt when you get to this level, and these things happen — three-peat aside or any of that stuff. You get this far and you don’t play as well as you want to, it hurts.”
The Chiefs may have failed to win another Lombardi Trophy this season, but they did claim its third straight Lamar Hunt Trophy as the AFC Champion.
Their dominance cannot be ignored. Since the 2019 season, the Chiefs have represented the conference in five of the last six Super Bowls.
Andy Reid Passes Bill Belichick for NFL History In Super Bowl LIX
Bill Belichick may have the record for most Super Bowl wins by a head coach, but Andy Reid just took another record away from him.
Super Bowl LIX was Reid’s 45th postseason game as a head coach, an NFL playoff record.
