Whoopi Goldberg’s ‘ignorant’ comments spark heated debate
‘The View’ co-host Whoopi Goldberg has faced scrutiny online after her comments regarding space exploration company SpaceX.
Ms Goldberg suggested that Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) examine some of Musk’s projects.
The host argued since NASA already exists, funding for Musk’s company SpaceX should be reduced.
“I want to know, when did I say, hey, we need another agency next to NASA,” Ms Goldberg said.
“He’s going to be cutting NASA, that’s the competition. What is the real deal here? If we want to cut some money, let’s cut some of these.
“You are paying for everything he sends up that comes back down that falls back down and breaks up, that’s out of our pockets.”
Her comments have sparked a heated debate online, with some users labelling her as “ignorant”.
Whoopi Goes Full ‘Basket Of Deplorables,’ Says She Can’t Even Talk To Trump Supporters

Whoopi Goldberg took a page from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s “basket of deplorables” playbook, admitting during Monday’s broadcast of “The View” that she can’t even talk to people who support President Donald Trump.
Goldberg still refuses to say Trump’s name aloud on the show — instead opting for terms like “the man in the White House” or “you know who” — and she made it clear on Monday that her disdain extended to half of the American people who voted for him.
The conversation began with cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin, who noted that Trump had spent his time away from the White House between terms working on building out his agenda and planning how he could implement it — efforts that have been paying off during his first month in office.
“One of the things he is excellent at, and the media takes the bait often, is he writes himself into every story,” Griffin said. “He didn’t just do the Super Bowl interview, he attended the Super Bowl … he is working in a 21st century media environment that is outpacing traditional media but also the opposition. I think Dems are kind of playing on a 1990s playbook of, like, if I go speak on the Senate floor if I go on ‘Meet the Press,’ it’s going to stop him.”

Cohost Ana Navarro complained that the “resistance” against Trump was not materializing in the ways she believed it should, arguing that Democrats were struggling with “reaching people” to organize. “We all need to come together and show them that we’re mad as hell.”

Griffin noted that to be successful, they would have to “go into uncomfortable spaces” and include Trump voters in their efforts to bring more people in, and Goldberg balked.
“I think this is beyond Democrats and Republicans,” Goldberg said. “It’s hard to talk to people who support people who think you don’t matter in the country … When you support THAT person … when we find the stuff that we agree on, that’s what we do. When we find the stuff that is disagreeable to the majority, now, I didn’t find anything of interest for me in Project 2025. I didn’t feel like this is geared to us as a nation, I felt it was geared to very specific folks and that bothered the poo out of me.”
“I understand what you’re saying, and we do have to talk to each other,” she finally conceded.
