Carrie Underwood feels American Idol producers ‘made a mockery’ of her with savage show edit
CARRIE Underwood may be smiling through the boos American Idol chose to highlight in recent episodes but behind the scenes, the reality is an entirely different story.
The country superstar has felt “frustrated” this season of American Idol after producers repeatedly showcased moments when she was loudly booed by the studio audience, a source has exclusively told The U.S. Sun.

“She’s felt more frustrated and annoyed by some of the producers’ decisions this season,” the insider claimed of Carrie’s sophomore season.
“Like them highlighting the times she got booed and making a mockery of it.
“She knows they’re doing it for the ratings but she felt it was disrespectful for them to lean into that so much.
“Still, she isn’t backing down this year and if anything, those boos will only fuel her to be more critical, more outspoken, but still honest, with feedback this season,” the source added.
The tension reached a fever pitch during Hollywood Week when contestant Mor, 22, performed an original song that Carrie, 42, critiqued.
Before the audience even reacted, Carrie appeared to brace herself.
“I feel like you guys are gonna boo me,” she told the crowd. “And it’s coming, just bring it on! I love it! Your boos are feeding me!”
Seconds later, the entire audience erupted and the clip quickly went viral across social media, with fans split over whether Carrie was just being honest or unnecessarily harsh.
Carrie even leaned into the narrative to defend herself, tweeting afterwards: “Spoiler alert…I get booed A LOT from our Hollywood Week audience.”
As Hollywood Week was completely pre-taped months ago, producers could have edited the footage out but chose to keep the moments in the final cut.
At another point in the episode, Carrie addressed the criticism head-on when co-star Luke Bryan was being equally critical, only he didn’t get booed from the audience.
“Why don’t they boo you?” Carrie furiously asks in a clip shared by both Luke and the official American Idol account.
Unlike the show, Carrie, however, has not highlighted the booing on her own social media pages.
‘Came In Hot’
While she’s publicly taken the jabs in stride, insiders say behind-the-scenes has told a different story.
“It’s been a completely new Carrie this season than last season. Last year it was her first year, she was getting the hang of it still. She was more meek.
“This season, she came into it like she had something to prove and she wasn’t going to back down at all this time.
“She definitely came in hot with much more opinionated feedback and sometimes got more brazen,” the source explained.
While some viewers have branded her the panel’s “villain” this season, Carrie reportedly isn’t losing sleep over the label.
“Carrie doesn’t think of herself as the villain, far from it,” the source said.
“She genuinely wants to help the contestants with their careers. But if that’s the label fans are giving her, so be it. She’ll embrace the villain role.”
If anything, the backlash appears to have strengthened her resolve.
The Grammy winner, who famously launched her own career as an Idol contestant nearly two decades ago, understands firsthand how pivotal the judges’ feedback can be.
And though the boos may be loud, insiders insist she believes tough love is part of the job.
Carrie returns to her second season of judging the singing competition alongside fellow country crooner Luke and music legend Lionel Richie.
