Morgan Wallen’s Dad Says He’s Most Proud of Morgan’s “Sobriety” and “The Dad He’s Become”

During a new episode of Morgan Wallen’s SiriusXM radio station, Morgan’s father, Tommy, reflects on his son’s growth in recent years, both as an artist and as a father himself.
In an endearing segment on Morgan Wallen Radio, Tommy answers the question of what makes him most proud of his son, “I’m Morgan’s dad, Tommy Wallen, bringing you Family Tradition on Morgan Wallen Radio on SiriusXM. Something that doesn’t relate to music or Morgan’s music that makes me really proud, again, there’s no question about this answer also – it’s his sobriety and the Dad he’s become”.
Tommy has paid tribute to Morgan in the past, such as through the heartfelt letter penned in honour of the latter’s 2025 album, I’m the Problem, in which Tommy reflected, “Success doesn’t get rid of all your problems…it takes a lot to admit that you might be one of those problems. It’s what you do about those problems that really matters. I’m proud that Morgan has had problems in his life. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t be the man he is today. But I’m even more proud of what he’s done with them”.
Wallen and his ex, KT Smith, share a five-year-old son, Indigo Wilder, and many credit the Sneedville native’s evolution – both personally and professionally – as being down to Indie.
It’s evident that Wallen’s role as a father has helped him to overcome some of his struggles with alcohol and off-stage controversies, with the ‘Thought You Should Know’ singer-songwriter referencing how he no longer drinks as much, especially when touring.
Particularly for Day One fans of the country titan, it’s refreshing to see Wallen in such a positive, healthy and productive space. The ‘Last Night’ chart-topper kicked off his 2026 Still the Problem Tour this past weekend in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with an array of shows lined up this year and rumours of new music on the horizon.
With Wallen’s ‘Thought You Should Know’ serving as an homage to his mother, Lesli, and ‘Superman’ acting as a meditation on his own perspective as a father, we’d love to see a sincere, vulnerable ode to his dad, Tommy, at some point in the near future – perhaps as part of that long-awaited Still the Problem deluxe album.
