Kid Rock Wasn’t A Fan Of Conan O’Brien’s Oscars Joke Making Fun Of The Turning Point USA Halftime Show

I’ll be honest, I didn’t realize the Academy Awards were last night until I saw people tweeting about them. Needless to say I opted to watch Bar Rescue instead, and from what I’ve seen I didn’t particularly miss too much worth writing home about.

Obviously the awards ceremony was a politically-charged affair, with the left-wing elite screeching about how badly President Donald Trump is ruining the country for the average American (the same kind of people they hide from in public behind their private security).

So basically pretty much like every other Hollywood awards show.

Conan O’Brien served as the host for the Oscars this year, and as expected he took plenty of shots at conservatives and Trump. And he also joked about the Turning Point USA halftime show earlier this year, the alternate Super Bowl halftime show that featured Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett.

During his opening monologue, Conan warned the audience (who all agree with his political views) that the show “could get political,” but said that Kid Rock was hosting an alternate Oscars at Dave & Busters.

I mean, not a terrible joke, but even the crowd at the awards show gave it only mild applause. And apparently Kid Rock wasn’t a fan either, although not because it was a joke at his expense: It just wasn’t funny.

The rock star, whose real name is Bob Ritchie, took to social media to respond to the shot from Conan – and direct people to his upcoming tour:

“I love a good joke, even when I am the butt of it, unfortunately this was not a very good one.

Either way, if you want to see a REAL good show this spring / summer that celebrates America and 250 years of Freedom – make sure you buy your tickets from (ugh) Ticketmaster for my Freedom 250 tour – The Road To Nashville. There is a reason for this, TRUST ME!”

Of course the TPUSA halftime show received plenty of criticism, but also did well enough that the organization founded by Charlie Kirk has already announced that they plan on running it back next year, and so far the YouTube stream of the alternate broadcast has racked up 21 million views after peaking at just over 6 million live viewers when it aired.

Following the show, Kid Rock also released his own version of the Cody Johnson hit “Til You Can’t,” with an added third verse that he wrote himself:

“There’s a book that is sitting in your house somewhere
That could use some dusting off
There’s a man that died for all our sins, hanging on the cross
You can give your life to Jesus, and he’ll give you a second chance
‘Til you can’t”

The song became Kid Rock’s first #1 single on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart, while also peaking (as of right now) at #14 on the Hot Country Songs chart and #69 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart.

As he mentioned, Kid Rock is hitting the road this year for his Freedom 250 Tour, and will also be performing select dates on the Rock the Country festival as it celebrates America’s 250th birthday.
