Kane Brown and his wife, Katelyn Brown, found major success in 2022 with their smash duet “Thank God,” which went to No. 1 on the country charts and has been certified 3x Platinum. This year, the song earned the additional achievement of serving as the inspiration for a Lifetime holiday movie, Thank God: Christmas at Keller Ranch, which premiered on December 13 on Lifetime.

Ahead of the film’s premiere, Kane and Katelyn appeared on TODAY to talk about the new project, sharing that they were “flattered” by the adaptation. “I thought it was awesome,” Kane shared, while Katelyn said the couple was “flattered for sure.” When one of the show’s hosts asked whether a Lifetime executive just called the couple “out of the blue,” Kane affirmed the question and shared that the ask was both “cool” and “made us look at the song a little different as well.”

“Just seeing it in a new perspective too, other than us singing it or talking about each other or whatever,” Katelyn added. “Seeing that was really cool.”

Both Kane and Katelyn serve as executive producers on Thank God: Christmas at Keller Ranch, which stars Arielle Kebbel and Tyler Hilton. The official synopsis reads, “After pro-hockey player, Wes Campbell (Hilton), suffers an injury during a high-profile game just three weeks before Christmas, he is referred to Keller Ranch in Nashville to recover. There, he meets no-nonsense rancher Maggie Keller (Kebbel), a single mom to son Dawson (Eshan Lyall) and an equestrian-assisted therapist.

Despite his initial skepticism, Wes is desperate to return to the ice and decides to give equine therapy a shot. As Maggie manages to break down Wes’ walls, he also helps her heal from the grief of her husband’s death. But as an unexpected romance blossoms between the two, will it go the distance, or is it just a holiday fling?”

Katelyn emphatically shared on TODAY that she is “100%” a fan of Lifetime’s holiday movies and added, “I know my mom’s watching this right now, and she’s like, ‘When is it coming up?’ We love Lifetime.”

“Thank God” marks the first time Kane and Katelyn released a song together, though the pair met when Kane was an up-and-coming country artist and Katelyn was pursuing a career as an R&B singer. The romantic track is a soulful declaration of the couple’s love for each other and how their relationship positively impacted their respective lives, and they revealed that they were actively looking for duets when Kane got the demo for “Thank God.”

“One of my writers sent me this song, and it was originally just a guy singing it and I thought it was perfect for us,” he recalled. “I remember running upstairs and showing [Katelyn] and she fell in love with it.”

“We’d heard a couple duets prior and were like, ‘I don’t know if that’s the one yet,’” Katelyn said. “And then when ‘Thank God’ came about and Kane ran upstairs, he’s like, ‘Babe, you have to hear this song.’ It was kind of undeniable. We were like, ‘Okay, this is it.’”
