Carrie Underwood Digs Into the Question on If She’d Allow Her Sons to Enter a Singing Competition

Besides being a global country superstar and an “American Idol” judge, Carrie Underwood is also a mom, having welcomed two sons, Isaiah and Jacob, with her husband, Mike Fisher.
During a guest appearance on “The View,” alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, Underwood revealed that both her sons were blessed with their mom’s musical talent, but does that mean she would allow them to compete in a singing competition just like her one day?

For now, Carrie Underwood says the idea of her young sons competing on a singing competition show is firmly on the back burner.
On “The View,” Underwood shared that both her sons, Isaiah, 11, and Jacob, 7, can sing, but she has strong reservations about allowing them to share their voices with the world on a show.
“They both can sing, but my oldest is like super into his music. He’s a mini-me in so many ways … but I don’t think I would. He would need to be older and more established in himself before I would give my blessing on getting in the music business,” she shared.
Fans Have Already Heard Underwood’s Oldest Son Sing
According to People, Underwood’s oldest son, Isaiah, has already gotten a taste of what it feels like to work in the music business. At just 5 years old, he joined his mom in the studio to sing on the song “Little Drummer Boy” for Underwood’s first Christmas album.
“It was so great. When we recorded, I was able to be in the booth with him and encourage him and try to remind him what words were coming up next, things like that,” the singer shared.
“I got to listen to his vocals [get] put together and then listening to myself with him. I was laughing, and I was crying, and it was just very overwhelming in a good way. It’s just very emotional,” she added.
In her interview, Underwood also opened up about being two versions of herself: being a normal mom to her two sons at home and the larger-than-life performer fans know and love. It’s something that remains incredibly important to the “Before He Cheats” singer, who wants her sons to see her first and foremost as their mom at the end of the day.
“Being on stage and being at home, those are two different people, pretty much. And I love that because they’ll come to shows and they’ll see me do what I do. And I feel that they’re proud, but then Mom makes dinner,” she said.
She continued, “I hope more than anything, that’s what they take away from me. And that’s what they remember about me. She was Mom, and then every once in a while, she’d go and get on stage.”
