David Muir fans raved over his latest segment, specifically the spotlight on a Texas’ softball team.

The ABC World News Tonight anchor has been consistently praised over the past few weeks for his “outstanding” reporting of the deadly Texas floods. He has given his viewers in-depth coverage of the aftermath with “heartbreaking” interviews, including one with the “hero” Coast Guard rescue swimmer who saved 165 people impacted by the catastrophic flooding.

In addition, he gave his fans an up-close look at the tragedy by flying down to Kerrville, Texas, the town the show has branded as “the epicenter of one of the deadliest U.S. floods in decades.” During his time in the southern state, he was touched by the story of a local softball team, which he believes is the epitome of “America Strong.”

Finishing off his segment on July 15, he introduced the “young softball team determined to show up despite what they’ve endured.”

He said, “After deadly flash flooding devastated their community, the Texas Voodoo girls softball team from Kerr County, traveled to Oklahoma to compete in a national tournament and were recognized by USA Softball.”

Despite the floods hitting their hometown just 10 days before, the girls were determined to get on the road and compete as “they had been training all season long for a national competition in Oklahoma City. “

“As a team, they decided to make that seven-hour drive north anyway,” he added.

“They were there for each other.”

The girls had explained their determination, with Macy Cobb saying, “Even through all the hardships, we still wanted to represent the Hill Country community.

Right fielder Bailey King also mentioned, “It helped take our mind off the devastating floods happening in our hometown.”

“Even with all the heartbreak and devastation, we wanted to show that we can do it,” shortstop Caydence Barbo stated.

Catcher Callie Phillips concluded, “Even though we have suffered an immeasurable amount of pain and tragedy, we have stayed strong and will rise above all of this.”

After David had mentioned he was “cheering” for them, fans ran to praise the touching segment on the show’s Instagram.

“Great job,” one wrote, alongside an array of clapping hand emojis.

Another added, “Wow, I really loved this segment! You got me again. I especially loved that u told us what position they played.”
