Jelly Roll admitted to facing roadblocks in his ongoing weight loss journey ahead of a controversial tour.

Jelly Roll, 41, will appear on several dates of the touring Rock the Country music festival, led by Kid Rock and Jason Aldean. Both Kid Rock, 55, and Aldean, 49, are staunch supporters of President Donald Trump and the MAGA movement, informing the theme of the tour. Months before revealing he would join Rock the Country, Jelly Roll broke his collarbone, putting a pause on his very public foray into weight loss.

“I said all that to say, I have, to some degree, lost my way,” he said, admitting that he was still between 40 and 60 pounds away from his goal weight after his setback. Jelly Roll’s wife, Bunnie Xo, has detailed that the country star was “hurt” by online bullying about his weight.

Jelly Roll, who previously weighed 540 pounds, is now down to around 265 pounds. However, this isn’t enough for the country star. Jelly Roll wants to “appear on the cover of something crazy like GQ, or Rolling Stone or Vanity Fair or Forbes or TIME with my shirt off.”

He believes that “there’s this story where a guy can go from 560 pounds to a shirt-off picture.”

The Rock the Country tour will take Jelly Roll across the country, sans a stop in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, which the musician will not attend. Rock band Staind will take his place for the tour date.

The Rock the Country tour is described as “a celebration of community, tradition, and the spirit that’s carried America through 250 years,” per its official website.

It has also been deemed MAGA-adjacent given Kid Rock and Aldean’s outspoken political affiliations. The former performed during Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show,” an alternative to the official Super Bowl halftime show, which starred Bad Bunny.

Jelly Roll has described himself as a “dumb redneck” and said, “I can tell you that people shouldn’t care to hear my opinion” when asked to comment on the ongoing US political climate.

However, a photo of Jelly Roll with former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was discovered. In an Instagram post, Noem wrote that Jelly Roll has an “incredible” heart.

The Rock the Country tour will also feature Blake Shelton, Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Rock band Shinedown dropped out of the event, explaining that “Our band’s purpose is to unite, not divide.” Rapper Ludacris originally appeared on the line-up, but he, too, removed his name from the festival.

“Lines got crossed and he wasn’t supposed to be on there,” said a representative for Ludacris.

Rock the Country dropped its ticket prices in mid-April, writing that “fuel costs are up and we want to help!”

“In response to rising transportation costs, you can enjoy up to 50% off general admission passes to any of 7 small town stops for a limited time only … Take advantage of this offer, fill up your tank and we’ll see you this summer!” shared the festival.
