According to an insider, Kidman leaned on her older children, whom she adopted with Cruise during their marriage, after quietly separating from Urban earlier this year, but especially confided in daughter Bella, who lives in the UK. “Nicole was in London all summer, and she spent a ton of time with Bella while she was there,” a source told the National Enquirer. “Bella has had a front-row seat to this split, and she encouraged Nicole to take a hard stance and take the legal steps to separate.”

Kidman and Cruise, who married in 1990, adopted Bella in 1992 and Connor in 1995. However, after the Eyes Wide Shut co-stars split in 2001, Kidman was rarely seen with her children.

It has long been speculated that Cruise’s ties to the Church of Scientology prevented Kidman from seeing her children. However, the National Enquirer’s insider now speculates that Urban was a factor. Urban and Kidman married in 2006 and share daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.

“Bella and Connor never understood what Nicole saw in Keith,” the source said. “It didn’t help that Keith landed in rehab a few months after they got married and put Nicole through hell.”

Kidman filed for divorce from Urban on September 29 after he reportedly ended their relationship back in May.

“They both had a real issue with Keith. With him gone, things are bound to get even better between them and Nicole,” the insider explains. “This split has thrown her for a huge loop, but if it leads to a better relationship with her kids, no doubt that will be a big silver lining for her.”

Bella, 32, has shown public support for her mom and half-sisters in recent years. However, Connor, 30, has more recently been seen hanging out with his famous dad.
