War Machine made a strong debut on Netflix shortly after its release. The sci-fi action film starring Alan Ritchson quickly climbed the platform’s weekly charts and drew millions of viewers in its opening days. Its early viewership numbers have also drawn attention as discussion continues about the possibility of a sequel to the film.
War Machine almost gets 40 million views in first three days
War Machine, a sci-fi action film led by Alan Ritchson, debuted as the most-watched title on Netflix during the week of March 2–8. The film recorded 39.3 million views within its first three days on the platform (via Variety). The movie features Ritchson as a mysterious combat engineer known as 81.
The latest Season 4 of one of Netflix’s most popular titles, Bridgerton, ranked as the second-most-watched title overall on the service. The season generated 13.1 million views during the first full week of Part 2’s availability after returning to the top spot on the TV Shows’ chart with 28 million views when its final four episodes were released. Season 1 also appeared on the chart (eighth spot) with 2.2 million views.
The Dinosaurs, a docuseries, debuted at No. 2 on the English-language TV chart with 10.4 million views in three days. The series trailed Bridgerton while leading several returning shows during the same tracking week on Netflix. The Night Agent Season 3 was placed third with 5.2 million views in its third week on the chart, according to Netflix’s weekly ranking.
The political drama Vladimir also entered the chart during the same period. The series recorded 4.2 million views in four days after its release on the streaming service. Other titles with three million views or fewer included Formula 1: Drive to Survive Season 8, Raw 2026, Gabby’s Dollhouse Season 13, The Mentalist, and Love Is Blind Ohio series.
Earlier, actor Alan Ritchson also discussed potential future plans for War Machine’s story. Speaking about the possibility of a sequel, Ritchson said there is already significant material for another installment. He stated, “Tons. Let me say it for him, tons.” Ritchson also added, “War Machines is going to be sick. The whole thing, we got a whole thing.” Director Patrick Hughes also hinted in the same direction.
