STEVE BROWN, FROM TRIXTER AND ALWAYS JOVI: “I DON’T THINK THE RIGHT PEOPLE ARE WORKING WITH JON”
In an interview with Hot Metal, vocalist Steve Brown, of Trixter and, most recently, creator of the Bon Jovi tribute group, @alwaysjovirocks, claims that Jon Bon Jovi’s voice that we’ve seen in his most recent performance (interview with Tony Robbins) “still has a long way to go.”
The guitarist and singer has had some relationship with Jon since in his beginnings the leader of Bon Jovi out of those who gave him the most support and support in his beginnings. Steve recounts he offered his help to Jon for the first time at actress Gwyneth Paltrow’s 50th birthday party.

In his opinion, “You can’t go out there and be bad..”. I don’t think the right people are working with him. Last time we went out was in 2022, right after he had such a rough tour and had his first vocal cord surgery. And I saw him in concert, I played at Gwyneth Paltrow’s 50th birthday party with the 80’s band I was in and Jon was there and I saw him after the concert and I grabbed him and said ‘Jonny!’ ‘ and he said to me ‘Steve! ‘. Grabbed it and pulled it away from Jerry Seinfeld and Steven Spielberg.. that makes for another whole interview. I pulled him away and said, ‘I love you, brother, and I want you to know that I heard the tour and you’ve got some serious problems.’ I told him, ‘I had surgery about 10 years ago, I’ve been through a ordeal.’ I have become ………… “I’m not a doctor, but I know all the tricks””. He looked at me and said, “Thank you very much, I will contact you if I need you.”
Steve Brown then tried to reach out to him and lend him his help:
“I haven’t heard anything from him, but over the last few months, for the last year, I’ve been trying to contact people around him, his brother, the tour managers, everybody.” And I finally got his phone and his email, wrote him an email, called him and texted him, ‘Hey dude, I’m here.’ I told him I played with Dave Bryan in December, right before Always Jovi released. We played three songs together in Nashville. I said the same thing to Dave. Because Dave … we all want Jon to succeed, but you can’t go out there and do it wrong. “He can’t hide it anymore, and we saw the latest that came out, that Tony Robbins special, and I’m not going to criticize anyone, but he has a long way to go.”
One aspect I particularly found very interesting from the interview is what Steve Brown thinks is causing Jon’s vocal difficulties: “I think it’s something similar to what happens to an athlete when he loses his technique.” If your a golfer… Tiger Woods had to re-learn how to play golf. I think that’s what’s going on with Jon right now. I heard they’re rehearsing for the upcoming 2026 tour and man, nobody wants to see him succeed as much as I do. And I think we all want to because we all know what’s been through and I don’t want to see… not even to my enemies man. I don’t want to see anyone go through that. And most of all I don’t want to see fans pay 500 dollars for a ticket and leave disappointed. He’s like the boxer who spends too much time in the ring. But I honestly think so… I believe there is hope, and unfortunately, I don’t think the right people are working with him, and I hope I’m wrong. I swear to God. I hope we’re both talking about this, but, Jon and everyone else listening on that team, I’m here man. No one wants Bon Jovi to win as much as I do. This is from over 40 years ago. Jon was the first to support us. We’ll see what happens. “I hope I’m wrong, you’re wrong too and Jon goes out and leaves everyone speechless.”
