Scarlett Johansson joined members of the cast and creative team of “Jurassic World Rebirth” on Sunday for the film’s premiere in Shanghai. The actress costars in the film alongside “Bridgerton” breakout star Jonathan Bailey and two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali.

For the red carpet occasion, Johansson wore a classic red dress by Prada, subtly nodding to China’s tradition of red. In China, red is a symbol of the sun and is associated with festivities and happiness, according to the National Museum of Asian Art. The shade is also the main color in the country’s flag.

Johansson’s sleeveless look featured thin straps and a sweetheart neckline with a formfitting silhouette and long, floor-length skirt. When it came to her accessories, Johansson wore a diamond necklace, simple earrings, a delicate bracelet and rings. The actress opted to forgo her controversial side part in favor of a tight chignon with a few strands of hair to frame her face. Her makeup included bold brows, lined eyes and a rosy lip.

Johansson often collaborates with award-winning stylist Kate Young, who’s dressed the “Marriage Story” Oscar-nominated actress throughout her “Jurassic World Rebirth” promotional tour.

Choosing Prada for the Shanghai premiere coincides with Johansson’s role as an ambassador to the Italian luxury fashion house. In 2023, Johansson collaborated with Venezuelan American artist Alex Da Corte, who art-directed the campaign for the carryover signature bag the Galleria for Prada. “I’ve been an admirer of Alex’s work but never imagined I would ever have a chance to collaborate with him,” Johansson said.

“Being able to work in a multimedia context with him, using the design elements of Prada’s collection to create characters that are part of a work on love and self-reflection was truly exhilarating. The environment that Alex created inspired by Prada’s color story and aesthetic was very much like performing inside of a piece of art. It was a singular experience I feel so proud to be a part of.”

The campaign featured Johansson in various hair and makeup looks with the Galleria bag set against colorful backdrops with bold uses of color.

“Jurassic World Rebirth” follows an expedition team that travels to a remote island to collect DNA samples of rare dinosaurs. The film hits theaters on Wednesday.
