Remarkably Bright Creatures has only been streaming for two days and it is already the #1 movie on Netflix in the US.

If you’ve already read the best-selling 2022 mystery novel by Shelby Van Pelt, then you know you’re going to want to have a box of tissues ready when you watch the Remarkably Bright Creatures movie on Netflix this weekend.

Directed by Olivia Newman (Where the Crawdads Sing), who also adapted the script with co-writer John Whittington, Remarkably Bright Creatures tells the story of a lonely, 70-year-old widow named Tova (Sally Field) who is still grappling with the death of her son, decades later. She doesn’t go to therapy, but she does share her thoughts with the giant octopus, Marcellus, at the aquarium where she works as a cleaning lady. Marcellus can’t speak back, but the audience gets to hear his thoughts thanks to a delightful voice over narration, voiced by none other than Dr. Octopus himself, Alfred Molina.

Tova’s life changes when an injury requires her to train a temporary replacement, a young drifter named Cameron (Lewis Pullman). Despite their differences, Tova and Cameron—thanks to a little help from Marcellus—will discover they have more in common than they thought. This is a sweet, tearjerker drama that is sure to get the waterworks going. We could all use a good cry every now and then, so read on to find how to watch the Remarkably Bright Creatures movie, including what time the Remarkably Bright Creatures movie comes out on Netflix.
