If you’re a big Netflix fan, chances are that you’ve seen their toothy new hit movie. Or at least heard of it. If not – and you’re a fan of Jaws or The Meg – you’re in for a treat.
Away from the dominant new shark tale that’s topping the global most-watched film charts at the moment, there’s plenty of other cinematic treats to dig into too.
Among others, there’s some new Minion action, a couple of fun foreign language flicks, a semi-classic 90s actioner with Bruce Willis and, for some reason, two entirely separate reboots starring Jack Black shouting in a jungle.
Here is that top 10…

It’s quite the money-spinning franchise – this 2024 sequel made a staggering $972m at the box office (Picture: Universal Pictures/Shutterstock)
The fourth outing for the Minions empire sees Gru forced into hiding after new villain Maxime Le Mal escapes prison and comes looking for revenge.
That means witness protection, a new identity and the small matter of trying to keep his family – now including baby Gru Jr – out of trouble.
Steve Carell returns as Gru, with Kristen Wiig back as Lucy and Will Ferrell voicing Le Mal. The setup gives it a slightly different spin, but it’s still built around fast, noisy chaos and the Minions doing what they always do.
9. KPop Demon Hunters – 4,800,000 views
It’s this lot again (Picture: Netflix/AP)
Yeah, yeah. It’s here again.
KPop Demon Hunters follows a group of global pop stars who secretly double up as demon-fighting warriors, switching between performing sho-hang on...
You already know all this, don’t you? You know what Kpop Demon Hunters is. Everyone does. Maybe you’ve seen it a thousand times, like everyone else.
This is week 42 of it being in the top 10 chart, by the way. Just so you know. And next week will be week 43. It’s the most-watched Netflix ever. It’s doing alright.
8. Humint – 4,900,000 views
Reviewers haven’t been overly kind about Humint but it’s grown a global audience anyway (Picture: Netflix)
A South Korean spy thriller directed by Ryoo Seung-wan, this one moves things out to Vladivostok, where South and North Korean agents collide while investigating a cross-border criminal case.
Zo In-sung leads alongside Park Jeong-min, Park Hae-joon and Shin Se-kyung, with the story leaning into rival intelligence teams, shifting loyalties and a situation that quickly spirals beyond anyone’s control.
One review described Humint as ‘a thriller long on spectacle but short on substance’. But while critics aren’t huge fans, fans at home seem to be into it.
7. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle – 5,000,000 views
Jack Black finds himself in a jungle as he stars in a meta reimagining of a 90s movie (Picture: Sony Pictures)
This surprisingly fun 2017 reboot of Robin Williams’ 90s family flick is helped by the fact it’s a very easy watch and doesn’t exactly ask much of you.
In it, four teenagers get pulled into a video game world, where they take on adult avatars with very different personalities. That’s quite a nice premise, eh?
Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan lead things, with most of the yucks coming from that mismatch between player and character. It’s part adventure, part body-swap comedy and a reliably watchable effort.
6. Striking Distance – 5,900,000 views
The polo shirt is a step up from John McClane’s usual dirty vest, but you can tell that Carrie Bradshaw isn’t happy about having to wear one (Picture: Channel 5)
A proper early-90s thriller, Striking Distance follows a Pittsburgh river rescue cop investigating a string of murders that start to feel uncomfortably close to home.
Bruce Willis leads as Detective Tom Hardy, alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Dennis Farina. Yes, that’s right – Tom Hardy. Which is slightly odd given that’s exactly the sort of actor you’d expect to play this role if the film were made today.
Released back in 1993, there’s not a huge amount that’s memorable about this fairly generic actioner, but it is Willis in his post-Die Hard pomp and a very straightforward watch.
5. Feel My Voice – 6,200,000 views
20-year-old singer and actress Sarah Toscano impresses in her feature film debut (Picture: Netflix)
This is a 2026 Italian coming-of-age drama directed by Luca Ribuoli. If it feels familiar, that’s because it is. It’s a remake of the French film La Famille Bélier, which also became the Oscar-winning flick CODA.
It follows 16-year-old Eletta, the only hearing member of her deaf family, who spends her life acting as their link to the outside world while helping run the family’s rural business.
When she joins a school choir and discovers she can actually sing, she’s forced to choose between staying put or pursuing something for herself.
Sarah Toscano leads in her acting debut, alongside Serena Rossi, Emilio Insolera and Carola Insolera. It’s a well-worn setup, but one that still lands nicely. And global audiences are clearly enjoying it.
4. Eat Pray Bark – 6,300,000 views
It’s not every day you get to watch a German comedy about training dogs starring an Icelandic former Charlton Athletic footballer (Picture: Netflix)
A German comedy named quite amusingly after the soul-searching Julia Roberts romantic drama, the plot here is built around a politician forced into damage control after admitting on live TV that she doesn’t like dogs.
Alexandra Maria Lara plays Ursula, who ends up at a dog-training retreat in the Tyrolean Alps alongside a group of chaotic dog owners, all under the watch of a rather intense trainer, played with glee by the Icelandic hunk and ex-footballer Rúrik Gíslason.
Soon enough we discover that the humans need more fixing than the dogs.
3. Anaconda – 7,000,000 views
This one’s been hanging around for a while (Picture: Everett/Shutterstock)
Anyone who remembers the 1997 creature feature Anaconda, which followed a documentary crew travelling through the Amazon who run into a giant snake, starring Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube and Jon Voight might have been surprised when they first heard about this remake.
Still, it’s not exactly a scene-for-scene double. In fact, it’s something else entirely. It’s a ‘meta-reboot’. It’s a film about two people (Jack Black and Paul Rudd) trying to remake the ’97 version. Which is an odd and ironically quite original concept.
2. The Truth and Tragedy of Moriah Wilson – 7,300,000 views

True crime remains a constant presence on Netflix. The latest crime documentary to capture the world’s attention on there focuses on the killing of Texan cyclist Moriah Wilson.
It lays out the timeline, the investigation and the people involved, building a picture of how the shocking events unfolded.
Interviews and archived material drive things forward, piecing together a case that drew widespread attention.
It’s heavy going, as you might expect, but clearly one that’s drawing interest. And understandably so. It’s a fascinating, if grim tale.
1. Thrash – 37,700,000 views
When there’s a great white shark swimming down the street, official advice is to just stay inside and pop the kettle on (Picture: Netflix)
A long way clear at the top, Thrash has recorded a number that dwarfs everything else here.
A full-on disaster shark thriller, this 90 minute scarefest drops a coastal town into chaos when a Category 5 hurricane floods the area and brings a surge of pesky great whites in with it.
Residents who didn’t evacuate are left trapped in rising water, dealing with collapsing buildings, debris and predators circling far too close for comfort.
The film is directed by Tommy Wirkola and led by Phoebe Dynevor as a heavily pregnant woman caught up in the wet disaster, alongside Whitney Peak and Djimon Hounsou.
It’s all very stressful, but a worthwhile ride. Okay, it’s not Jaws. But it’s better than Sharknado VII: The Sharkening.
